Monday, 7 pm. ESPN+. Game four of our Big South tour.
#349 at #311. 71%. 68-61.
Wild game at their place last December. We trailed by 19 with 14 minutes to play, then closed with a 42-15 blitz to win by 8. Ally's dad came up from Texas, and a big crowd made the one-hour trip from Durham to watch Justine. Ally responded with a career high 16, and Justine poured in 19 fourth quarter points.
The Panthers are 2-2 this season. Best win was by 11 points over #678 NC Central. Double digit road losses to top 100 teams. 5-10 G Emma Bockrath averages 18.3 ppg, including 8-19 from deep, plus 6.5 rpg. Lindsay Edwards, another 5-10 G, averages 13.3 and 6.3. Camryn Brown, 5-5, averages 9.8 ppg and 5.3 apg. Bria Gibson, 6-1 F, has averaged 9 rpg in 20 mpg, but that was against NCC and Mars Hill -- she did not play in their two most recent games against Kentucky and Miami(OH).
High Point threw a variety of defenses at us last year -- man, zone, traps, presses, denial, you name it. We'll need to be sharp.
44% 2FG, 30% 3FG, 70% FT. Minus 1 on the boards. 15 topg, and they force nearly 20 per game. Assist to turnovers almost 1:1.
The Panthers' coach is DeUnna Hendrix. Her name was one of the first to appear on Andrea's fundraising site back in January.

We are singing in the Christmas gala tonight in DFPH, so parking will be an issue.
Tickets are still available for the game, unlike our event. We are singing on Monday and Wednesday, skipping tomorrow for the UNCC game. The women will be missing some regular fans.
I recall a time when there was a basketball double header the night of our fall concert. Some of us walked across the street after we sang and still got to see most of the men’s game in our formal attire. (No, Groucho.) Dan the tuba man was in his tux while the rest of the pep band wore their red-and-white-striped shirts. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

By the end of The Twelve Days in the song, the stage will already be overrun with dancers, so I will be one of the twelve drummers drumming in loco. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

Same starting five: Kianna, Katie, Sarah D, Cassidy, Ally
Both teams man-to-man. A bit ragged early.
Less than 3 minutes in, 5 fouls on HP, and we're shooting FTs. Cats lead 4-2. Two fouls on the HP point guard, she's sitting.
Under 5 timeout, 10-6, Cats. We have 5 turnovers already. They have 6 fouls already. Kianna with 6 pts on 2-2 from deep.
End of 1st qtr, 25-13, Cats. Refs calling it tight, HP paying the price with 10 fouls. They have 3 players with 2, and 1 player with 3. Kianna and Cassidy each with 6. Cats winning the boards, 10-3.
Still 5 turnovers for us, that was a clean 2nd five minutes. _________________ ...coming out of the murky, dreary jungle of untutored mediocrity. |

2nd qtr, 7:08, 27-19.
Under 5 timeout, 31-21, Cats, who are also starting to foul too much. Kyla has 3, Kianna 3, Ally 2. Winning the boards, 14-8.
3:16, 36-24. Ally also with 6 pts now, along with 4 rebs. Sarah with 5 pts and 4 rebs.
Halftime, 40-32, Cats. Sarah D leading the way with 7, and four Cats with 6 apiece -- Kianna, Katie, Cassidy and Ally. Only 2 Davidson turnovers in the last 15 minutes. Up on the boards, 19-13.
Panthers are switching most of our high screens, we should be able to get some mismatches.
Fouls: Kianna and Kyla both have 3. Ally and Cassidy with 2 apiece. Three Panthers have 3, four Panthers with 2. _________________ ...coming out of the murky, dreary jungle of untutored mediocrity. |

Justine in for Kianna (w/ 3 fouls) to start the 2nd half.
Under 5 timeout, 45-39, Cats, who are not finishing good chances well enough. Sarah and Katie each have 9.
Cats in the bonus again, Sarah D makes a pair, 49-39, 3:03 remaining in the 3rd qtr.
End of 3rd qtr, 57-43, Cats after a 12-4 run to close. Sarah has 17 and 9 boards. Katie with 9 and 4 asts, Ally with 8. Only 4 for Justine, but she has 7 rebs. _________________ ...coming out of the murky, dreary jungle of untutored mediocrity. |

4th qtr, 8:05, 59-48. Ally in double figures with 10.
6:16, 59-52, Cats. HP has scored 9 unanswered.
3:34, 63-59, Cats. Panthers very efficient on offense during this run. Timeout, Davidson.
2:06, 68-59. Terrific drive-and-kick three, Cassidy to Katie, then Sarah with a putback.
1:40, Cats get a stop. Timeout, Davidson.
1:28, Ally at the line... make, lane violation. Up 10.
21.5 seconds, Kianna shoots a pair... make, make. Up 12.
** Final, 71-62. Nice, hard-fought win. _________________ ...coming out of the murky, dreary jungle of untutored mediocrity. |

Double-double for Sarah D, 19 pts and 13 rebs. Ally had 15 pts on 6-8 shooting, plus 6 boards.
Katie had 12 pts along with 5 assists. Cassidy with 6 assists, including the crazy good pass to Katie for the early dagger that gave us some breathing room after the HP run. Kianna with 8 pts, Justine with 7 rebs.
Another very good team effort.
Next up, the Cats head north to Princeton, NJ this coming Sunday. _________________ ...coming out of the murky, dreary jungle of untutored mediocrity. |

Good enough. High Point has really declined lately. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. He could have played 'name that score' if he so desired."---St Joe's fan |
