Most definitely and rather high-pitched. Those young ladies may have fainted if they had come to the women's game and seen him dancing in his highly distressed jeans during the music in breaks.
Speaking of high-pitched sounds: I vote honorable mention to David Pfohl, who set the indoor record for pitching the Star Spangled Banner in the stratosphere. He asked us to sing along. As the notes got higher, he dropped down an octave, and I didn't. As we approached the word "free," which is normally on a high F, I knew I would need a lot of air and support. So I tried belting it out as best I could. That had to be at least an A. It was not my finest vocal moment, speaking of high pitched squealing.
I told David at the half that every now and then it is good for me to be reminded that I'm not really a tenor.
He sang the SSB also at the women's game. He started a little lower but still on the high side, and did not drop down the octave. At the Christmas Gala on Monday and Wednesday, he will be singing bass, and I will be pretending to sing tenor as usual. I'm sorry to miss the women's game Monday. |
The octave skip was a neat trick. I resorted to singing harmony. _________________ "There ain't no sanity clause!" Chico Marx |

Carter, although he did have a couple of bad fouls.
Dusan gave some good minutes in the first half. _________________ "There ain't no sanity clause!" Chico Marx |

I didn't think of that, maybe because I couldn't hear enough melody around me to bounce off of.
BTW, if anyone is unaware of the importance of the Pfohl name in music at Davidson and the region, this article should be of interest. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

Carter.
And while “steady hand bringing the ball up the court†really isn’t a criteria for this award, it was nice seeing him handle that job as well. Related: despite the summer scouting report, I’ve rarely seen Kellan bring the ball up.
I’ll also add that Dz continues to contribute good minutes. _________________ This is a post by BDF, not BDL. |

I always resort to lip-synching. It keeps the backboard glass from shattering. _________________ “Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.†— Jeff Bridges as The Dude in "The Big Lebowski" |

JAM2's favorite song at the moment is the SSB. She even says "boom boom boom" after 'bombs bursting in air', as they shoot fireworks off at the Greensboro Grasshoppers games at that point in the song. Anyways, I've realized that I need to start the song lower to have a chance at the highest note. Thankfully, this is a bedtime version and nobody else is subject to our rendition. |

I’ve observed and sometimes helped with bedtime rituals for friends’ small children. None of them ever involved that song. Whatever it takes.
(One of my favorite memories was when visiting a classmate and meeting their three-year-old daughter. As bedtime approached his wife said, “Mommy is getting ready to leave for Africa tomorrow, so maybe Steve will read you a story.†Some of you have met her since she and her dad have taken the train down for several games, before she had little ones of her own.) _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

When a small person demands a song at bedtime, you'd be surprised how blank the brain goes. SSB is a lifeline for us. _________________ The basic entrance fee to being a good person is to listen to and believe people who lack a privilege you have. |

We will go ahead and declare Carter the winner. He is opening up quite a bit of distance early in the season! _________________ “Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.†— Jeff Bridges as The Dude in "The Big Lebowski" |

When a younger cousin would stay over at our house, I would annoy her with fracturing stories she knew, like “Greendilocks and the Five Weasels.â€
I might sing Christmas songs in their original tongues. I recall that her version of one came out as “O Time Bomb, O Time Bomb.†She was a little older than the kids we are talking about.
Fast forwarding back to my reading to the classmate’s 3-year-old, I thought it was so neat to read to her. And then I observed that I got to read to people every Sunday (and how neat is that!). Her mom yelled from an another room, “But they don’t sit on your lap!†_________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |
