1) Carter played great minutes. Big blocked shot. Big finish late in the clock shot. Made a difference
2) Luka was huge down the stretch. Almost singled handedly solved the rebounding issues in the final 8 minutes.
3) KG frustrated a bit all night. Came up with a big steal under 2 minutes (even tho he may not have gotten the credit).
4) KP was really good and was causing problems in that 4 slot, offensively and defensively. May not have filled the stat sheet per se but he made a difference.
5) the out of bounds to JAG was coaching brilliance. It began with me saying, “why is jag throwing the ball in?”
6) Luke was hunting his shot. When the brace comes off we’ll know.
7) When you have the best player on the court you’ll win more often than not. Jag was it.

JAG is the absolute man. He just wanted the ball...would love to see that same killer attitude in others. KiShawn quietly had one of the best games I have seen him play. Other than thst - pretty ugly

That out of bounds play to get the ball in on the last possession was coaching/preparedness perfection.

I’ll take it

Clearly Jag's best game at Davidson. He played a complete game in all phases.
The Cats did play good defense for nearly the whole game. Offense was shaky at times but WS also plays very good defense. Our freshmen are still adjusting to the speed of the game. This was a good game for the Cats -- even better to get the win. Grady had an off night but he will bounce back. KP is much quicker this year and it shows on defense. Would like to see more of Ekwui and Dusan. Rebounding needs to improve. Cats got better tonight.

As long as we’re in Charleston avenging losses from the 08-09 season, we might as well beat Purdue tomorrow as well.

Big win, yet plenty of material to fill up a few practice agendas.

We are used to seeing our bigs take the open 3 as a big part of our offense-both in our half court offense and as the trailer on the break. We don’t have that piece right now and I’m not sure we’ll have it this year. This will cause us problems in stretching the floor. Hopefully Frampton can step up his shooting to help offset this issue.

Kellan had an off night shooting but he has upped his defense tremendously and that may be why he’s having issues getting into the flow offensively. WS sought to do two things-take away Kellan and take away Luka’s game in the post. They did both pretty effectively yet we still won.

This team has that indefineable “something.” That refuse to lose mentality. It starts with JAG. Remember when the knock on him was that he couldn’t finish? He’s looking like our mvp right now.

Although JAG's 3-pointer at 0:51 was the daggah, the shot that I will most remember from this game was his rebound at 2:40, followed by the coast-to-coast one-on-three layup and-one that tied it at 50. The stakes weren't as high, that layup will rank up there with Clint's dunk against WCU, Steph's "English" reverse layup against Wisconsin, TK's layup at the buzzer to beat LaSalle in 2015, and JAG's layup against Rhody last year.

Steph's split of Gtown defenders is probably on the list as well.

All great memories that just make me want more; now to be complete, all I need is for JAG to smile at the foul line every so often.

I've been out of touch. Who's 35 and does he have potential? Looks very raw tonight but we just have nothing inside so should get minutes with a little improvement?

In case it was a genuine question instead of a joke that went over my head 35 is Luka Brajkovic, a freshman from Austria. Hes gonna start for us this year, has been getting around 25 minutes a game. Has shown pretty good hands and finishing inside in the first two games, but still is gonna take time adjusting to college level against bigger stronger opponents. I havent seen him take many jump shots, so mostly playing trying to catch the ball with both feet in the paint. Since he was an international recruit he didnt get as much attention but I think bigger schools like stanford and Purdue were also showing interest, so theres a lot of optimism for how he could develop.

The fact that the defense looked so good makes me super optimistic. We know the offense will come around and the shots will fall eventually but if we can play this type of defense (and improve our rebounding a bit) then watch out.

For now, the team still didn't look good but boy was this a massive win. The grit and fight was incredible.

Les Wiz can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Steph and Peyton are two Wildcats who have each outscored the other team by himself in the first half of a game. Neither of those games was close.

Over the last 20 minutes and 2 seconds of yesterday's contest, Jon didn't quite outscore Wichita State, but he did in fact equal them, 21-21.

That's pretty impressive in a game like last night's.

Defensive rebounding was a problem. We gave up 15 offensive rebounds. Then we started to try boxing out harder and started getting called for fouls while rebounding, including the possible "hook and hold" which is something I've never heard of.

JAG had one of the best box outs you'll see. I think it was on the rebound the sequence that DC69 referenced.

We can beat Purdue if we rebound better and JAG has another great night. The awesome thing about this team, we don't need JAG to have another great night to beat them. This team has options.

I think Chantilly is correct, though it's conceivable Snyder might have come close against Ohio U in the 1966 season. If forced to bet, I'd stick with Chantilly's two. (Let's limit this to the post-war era so we don't end up scanning through old Davidsonians for accounts of things like the 54-14 win over Camp Green during the 1918-19 season.)

A decent analogy to JAG's scoring effort down the stretch in a close game is Curry vs. Gonzaga. When any kind of analogy involves #30, we're talking about a memorable performance.
