A new record for Threadstarter World Headquarters: It’s only mid November, only the fourth game, and I skipped starting the last game due to Chinese espionage, but I’m already out of ideas.
A lot has happened the last few weeks, though, and I learned some new things. It’s all I have.

1. Aviation related: (Learned second hand via plaintive emails from cell phones)

If you buy a glider from a Canadian club and drive up to Ontario to bring it back, when you cross the border coming home our Friendly Federales will want all sorts of paperwork and certificates and numbers before you can get it out of the Border Patrol parking lot.

1-A. If you do this on a Sunday, you will have a particularly hard time rounding up all the data and will have great difficulty getting professional help.

1-B. Towing a disassembled glider 1,000 miles on an old homemade open trailer will involve lots of side of the road repairs and modifications.

It’s OK, they made it back and I went out Saturday to help put the bird back together. Now we are sorting out switching the registration from Canada to U.S. It’s not as easy as getting divorced and remarried the same day in Las Vegas. (Not that I have any experience with that.)

2. Do not let your stupid young dog get into a fight with a cat. They are evil infectious creatures and you may wind up making three trips to the Vet for antibiotics and other nostrums.

3. It is a legitimate thing to take your other old and creaky dog in for doggie acupuncture, and it actually does seem to work.

4. Laying sod is kind of interesting, it’s like laying tile or pavers but then it can hopefully grow together later and hide all your mistakes.

4-A. It’s way too much like work to consider for a future career.

4-B. Sod cutting knives are very nifty but also extremely vicious looking and you would probably get arrested carrying one in public. (But you probably wouldn’t get mugged.)

5. Spending days trying to track a country’s worth of elections on the internet is hazardous to your physical and mental health.

5-A. If you are a wife, you really shouldn’t blame your poor husband for any results you don’t like. It’s not really his fault. (He’s learned to take it, though.)

I’m not sure if this is what Davidson touts as a lifetime of learning, but it’s the way my life seems to be going lately.
