I want to win every game we play, but I try not to stress too much when we lose games before the A-10 schedule begins. |

I notice that this is only Coach McLaughlin's third year at Dartmouth, having been hired to turn around a perennial losing program. The fact that they have only lost to us on our court so far this year and beat Loyola of Maryland on the road is a substantial improvement. The last time they started 3 - 1 was 2013. Coach McKillop also seemed impressed with them. McLoughlin has not even had enough time to recruit his own team. In fact, there is only one senior on their team. His record as a head coach prior to Dartmouth is impressive:
"Prior to his tenure at Northeastern, McLaughlin was the head coach at Division II Stonehill College in the Northeast-10 Conference. Under his tutelage, the Skyhawks â€" which had been 11-45 in the two seasons before he took over â€" enjoyed terrific success with a combined 189-99 (.656) record in his nine seasons (2004-13), including a 135-80 (.630) mark in conference play. Six times Stonehill won at least 20 games, topping out at 27 during the team's run to the national semifinals in 2005-06. The Skyhawks qualified for the NCAA Tournament on five occasions (2006, '09-12), twice winning the East Regional Championship to advance to the Division II Final Four (2006, '12)."
What was McKillop's record in his third season at Davidson? |

"What was McKillop's record in his third season at Davidson?"
11-17
IMO, the following season, 1992-1993, was the critical one for Bob. A late season winning streak saved him. Going into a 2/21 game with ETSU, Davidson was 10-13, another losing season seemed eminent. Cats won 4 out of 5 and finished 14-14. The next season, Coach won 22 games and the rest is history. |

Dartmouth has played two DIII schools and Loyola MD is predicted to finish last in the Patriot league.... maybe the game was just a blip but Dartmouth is NOT good and we have a long way to go before we’re good. Which as I said before is fine because the building blocks for a really good team are there. |

I like the "Expect a miracle" on the baseline, but the miracle was for the other team.
Is the fact that a "Baptist got Oral" a miracle? |

Was that the game where he switched to zone? |

BDL - I think Coach McKillop would disagree with your assessment of Dartmouth, but we should get a better read on them when they go to San Francisco next week. |

USF has won their three games this year (one D2) by margins of 34, 43 and 34. |

They play Buffalo next Wednesday. I hope I can eat my words but facts are facts: Dartmouth’s most recent winning season was 1998 and they lost their 2 best players from last year’s 7-20 team. |

UConn was a very good team that went to the Dance in 1978-1979, despite losing to an 8-19 team on 11/25/78. |

In my past comments, I have said that I still believe in the team and the building blocks for a great year are in place. We have Bob McKillop, I'm not worried about where we'll end up; last year we lost to bad App State and Hawaii teams in non-con and were one of the best 25 teams in the country in our last 20 or so games. That being said, barely beating Dartmouth freaks me out and makes me very nervous for this upcoming game. |

Richmond beats St. Francis (NY) 88-66. Only other game tonight is LaSalle at Florida. Pookie and the Gators would be a fantastic band name. |

You are right about Buffalo, but I would point out that Dartmouth's three seniors averaged 34.5 ppg. last year. This year's top three (2 sophomores and a junior) are averaging 48.3 ppg. As a team, they have also improved from 36% to 49% from beyond the arc. I think Coach McKillop is right that they will play a much stronger role in the Ivies this year. Don't sell them short! |
