Kellan's buddies Smith and Sistare had good games.
I tried to listen to Bob's interview over the PA. They didn't have it hook up well, and an ear infection has me mostly deaf in my right ear. I couldn't make out a lot. I couldn't hear Belford at all. I did hear Bob say "Dagger, after dagger, after dagger." Our threes and jumpers, OTOH, would go 1/3 of the way into the basket before they jumped out.
One might be tempted not to wonder whether our guys are ready for Wichita State, but whether they are ready to face Appalachian again.
I'm always especially proud of the team when they gut one out. We didn't have a lot of luck, but finally had something go our way at the end. It still took effort and skill to get to that point and to capitalize on it. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

This game was not without some positives though... we proved we could win when the 3’s arent falling (23%), we proved we could handle adversity (foul trouble for our best 3 guys, a massive deficit, and unconscious opponent), and the driving/post work was phenomenal. |

I just think if that happens against a better team/ we don’t have an ability to come back. I agree gutsy win better team found a way / wasn’t pretty and they shouldn’t be happy with the effort level required to beat a lower quality team (granted they shot lights out but if our D was better at the start maybe just maybe Dartmouth wouldn’t have been this close.
Kellan definitely needs to take greater ownership over team getting out to better start / |

Welcome back! Was tough to gut that one out without any board positivity but, we won! Way to stick with it Cats. There is a lot of negativity on campus with some serious matters weighing in. Undoubtedly the team felt some of that. But, they won. Davidson is stronger than hate and the team is a reflection of the school. Adversity and diversity makes us stronger. Campus and team. I support the students and the team. |

I think that’s an interesting point about Kellan. I think we are such good teammates to each other sometimes that it wasn’t until closer to the end that it seemed like he decided “hey, I’m the best player on the floor. Give me the f’ing ball.†It has to be interesting to go from having Peyton being the ultimate go-to guy the last couple years and now we are working though not having that and how guys step up.
Best outcome of that game (outside of not posting a pretty bad loss on paper) was Carter. Confidence in himself and in him by teammates was awesome.
Really feel for Luke. He’s obviously such a smart basketball player, but it feels like he’s just not in his rhythm when he has to play the four. He’ll get there though, I’m not worried.
JAG is one tough ass man. Love his game
Luka was great down low. That sweeping hook (Reminiscent of Kareem) was awesome, even if he missed it. He’s got to figure out the defense and not reaching over the back. So much fun to watch.
Regarding the “great zone debateâ€. I started Hoping they would make the switch, if not to just give a different look for a few possessions.
We could use a guy like their number #5. Now I was rooting for one of our guys to put a hard screen on him all night after he kept putting his threes in the air with the hopes it would make him shut his mouth...but what a great spark / role player off the bench for them. He was awesome. |

I have no clue as to what you're referring to: negativity on campus? Serious matters weighing in? _________________ “Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.†— Jeff Bridges as The Dude in "The Big Lebowski" |

If the students are contending with some negative issues, they didn't let it affect their lungs. Great turnout of students, and their loud enthusiasm was a big boost late in the game. _________________ “Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.†— Jeff Bridges as The Dude in "The Big Lebowski" |

I can account from first hand experience how this situation has affected the campus. I am Jewish, I have dealt with anti-semitism my entire life, I am not scared, I’m used to this to an extent. That being said, much of Davidson is not Jewish and not used to this. I, as a hall counselor and just a friend, have found myself assuring many that everything will be ok. As a community we will of course move on stronger but right now this is certainly jarring. |

I also dont want to minimize the experiences of my LGBT+, African-American, Latinx, and other minority classmates who’ve dealt with as bad and worse hate. |

Bob has pointed out that having Peyton on the floor opened up things for Kellan. I recall that in a game when Kellan's 3s were not falling, it looked like he suddenly realized that he had an open lane to the basket, and he started scoring 2s and wound up with a lot of points that way.
Now he doesn't have Peyton to do that, so that's an adjustment he is still working with. Tonight he wound up with 23 points, and was 0 for 2 from the arc.
#5 was a HS teammate of his, and still a close friend, according to Matt. Tonight two other players shot 75% on 3s, and he was 5-6.
I did notice a play where Luke was standing out at the arc all by his lonesome for a while expecting a pass from Kellan, who instead took no notice and forged ahead into traffic toward the basket. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

Another benefit of being on ESPN+ is being able to watch the replay in whole or in part. 2 things I rewatched:
1 the intentional foul at the end of the first half. Dartmouth had a foul to give and clearly wanted to give it. Kellan was quick enough to get away from his man and the defender had to lung at him with outstretched arms. Still, I don't recal that being called an intentional in the past. It will definitely change the end of game sequences if similar fouls are called the same way all season.
2 the final defensive play of the half. Carter definitely makes an athletic play. I'd love to be in the film room when they look at it though, because I'm pretty sure he didn't make the right play. Dartmouth threw a long crosscourt pass on the inbound. As Carter's man sets a pick on Kellan, Carter tries to make a play on the ball but comes no where close. Kellan switches and his original man is wide open to receive the touch pass from his teammate. Carter uses his athleticism to recover and block the shot. It was a great play, but one necessitated by Carter being out of position (at least to my amateur eye). _________________ This is a post by BDF, not BDL. |

2) Pretty certain Davidson was going to foul Dartmouth on their final possession. It just didn't work out. |

Fortunately, nobody was trying to shoot a 3 when we would have been trying to foul them. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |
