Manfred Mann's version replaces the line "Cut loose like a deuce" with "Revved up like a deuce." In their version, "Deuce" was commonly misheard as "Douche." Springsteen's original line makes a lot more sense - a deuce is a 1932 Ford hotrod. On his Storytellers special, Springsteen said (in a jesting manner): "I have a feeling that is why the song skyrocketed to #1."

Springsteen seems to have been stringing a lot of internal rhymes together.

Opens topic...3 comments about the Belk Arena lights, 5 comments about a song that does not pertain to said lights. Sounds right for this message board.

3 comments about a song and 2 about a misspelling on YouTube.

And a reference and then a link to another song.

It’s the message board version of the Serenity prayer: Instead of accepting what you cannot change, you deflect off topic.

I've tried that more than once with Mrs seamac.

Fail

After a loss at Georgia Tech in the Sixties, Georgia's players complained of the lighting in Alexander Memorial Coliseum (now McCamish Pavilion). They groused it was not bright enough. The two had a home and home series, so when Georgia Tech went to Athens for the return match, the Yellow Jackets were wearing sunglasses when they took the floor for layups.

Aren't there double domes over in that section?

But mama, that's where the fun is.

When you think about it, Spring and steen almost rhyme.

I think it was Vanilla Ice who could do whole songs without a single rhyme, just near-rhymes.

JAM1 and I have conversations on whether a word rhymes with itself. "Do cat and cat rhyme?"

I did not wear my hat last night, and now I reluctantly will have to join the chorus of complaints about the lighting..They are set way too far back over the stands and shine right in eyes of the fans across the arena .. Found myself using my program as a visor from time to time. I think maybe the lights need to be moved to the beams closer to the court (where the loudspeakers are mounted).

That seems to be a requirement for country music lyrics.

Ridin' with my baby in my pickup truck.
Baby's lookin' good, I think she's a keeper.
She turns to me and says, "What's up
With the glare from them lights in Belk Arener."

On TV, I noticed that when players are back lit by the giant sign in front of the scorer's table, the TV cameras seem to only pick up their silhouettes. A different issue than court glare, but still a matter of looking at lights in all the wrong places.

The old lights are still in place. Why can't some sort of combination be used. "We'll blow a fuse" is not an acceptable answer.
