Exhibition game with W&L tomorrow night, 11/1.
Our first decision should be whether we name a winner for an exhibition contest, or whether we let this game be an "exhibition" for the Colt 45, as well. Another option would be to name a winner, but keep it in the fridge to use as a tie-breaker at season's end (if the W&L winner is in contention at season's end).

I vote for:

Any needed tiebreaker should be based on conference and NCAA tournament games. They should receive extra weighting. |

Exhibition winner. Give em an O'doules. Fake beer for a fake game.
I predict Carter Collins will be this year's season champion. _________________ This is a post by BDF, not BDL. |

Even if the winner gets an O'Doul's, we should still do a "dry" run to shake off the dust and the rust, in preparation for what I predict will be a wide-open contest in 2018-2019. _________________ “Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.†— Jeff Bridges as The Dude in "The Big Lebowski" |

If the guy named Nobody wins, it’s gonna be a long season. |

Seems like that happened a few times last year and everything turned out good. |

Sometimes the “nobody†choice last season said more about members of this group than about the players.
Whether or how it counts, we definitely should have the competition. It beats arguing about something else. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

On the positive side of nobody votes, sometimes last year the starters were so darn good the game was already too far out of hand for guys off the bench to make a big impact. I’d be okay with a couple more of those blowout wins this year too |

At the risk of award overload, I’ve thought about proposing a Rusty award. Starter or sub who is tough, does all the stuff that doesn’t show up on the box score. It would not be an every game award, but by special nomination. The effort would have to be so indisputable that support would have to be unanimous. There would be no season long competition, a game award would be a singular accomplishment.
I think this is probably a bad idea. It is more than we need. But, at some point a starter is going to have a Rusty performance and I’m going to bring it up again. _________________ This is a post by BDF, not BDL. |

Yes. Practice makes perfect...and what else will us old guys do after the thrill of victory fades? |
