Lost to Richmond, who was 1-15-1 prior to the match.
We did not qualify for the A-10 Tourney.
We were winless in the A-10 again, following an winless 2017. _________________ "I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter."

This is a shame. How is our funding for this program? Scholarships? _________________ 2040. 3rd East. 2nd Center. 4th Little. 302F.

Funding is certainly a problem, but this team played better before the coaching change. From the stands, it looks like a swing and a miss. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. He could have played 'name that score' if he so desired."---St Joe's fan |

Based upon what's been said on this board and elsewhere, the only sport at Davidson that operates with a full complement of scholarships is men's basketball with 13. Women's basketball has 13. The NCAA allows 15.
Men's golf either has or is close to the NCAA limit of 4.5 scholarships.
Baseball is increasing its allotment from less than 3 to 7 over the next few years as the recently donated scholarships phase in.
In 2014-15, Davidson awarded $3,072,000 in athletic scholarship aid. That was last in the A10. If we gave 26 scholarships in basketball @ $60,000 apiece, that would leave $1,512,000 for all other sports. That would be 25.2 scholarships. That is very few when spread across our other sports.
We cannot expect to consistently compete for A10 titles without more scholarship aid. We never consistently competed for Southern Conference titles in any sport other than men's basketball. |
