Make it a day in Davidson!
It is Space Day, with a lecture at 10am. FBC festivities start about 12:30. After Red/Black join in Space Day activities until time for soccer. After we beat Fordham look through telescopes on Chambers lawn.
(I might as well call Sunday Church Day. Matins choir practice starts at 7:30 am and Compline ends about 8:30pm. Music @ St. Alban’s is in between. Three denominations involved.) _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

NB ... soccer match starts at 6:00 instead of the usual 7:00. Don't be late. _________________ "We should've thrown our number 7 pitcher against Davidson......" Post by Tar Heel baseball fan 16 minutes into the game. |

Forecast is for light rain early Saturday, but weather should be better by 6:00 and maybe some clearing in the skies for stargazing. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

After the basketball festivities, I headed to Chambers, where the afternoon event was moved inside. In a room near where the 1620 used to live, they had virtual reality tours of the galaxy set up, and I watched kids for a bit as they experienced that. A screen showed more or less what one was seeing.
Most exhibits were in Lilly Gallery.
The baby did make it there. He is now 3 months old.
The viewing tonight was not spoiled completely by clouds. They always found things worth seeing through the breaks in the clouds. And even when the moon was partly obstructed, it still showed up well in the telescopes. Some folks brought kids, and there was a high school group doing projects.
Fun day. I was glad to see those of you I encountered. Some of you I still don't know by face or real name even though we are obviously at the same place at the same time fairly often. I spent a fair amount of time with raptor, city, i77 and spouse, mephisto, and dc69 at one or more events, as well as many of you lurkers and posters rare enough I don't recall your handle here. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |
