Some of you may remember that I don’t generally wear socks.

I may not have mentioned that I’m not all that fond of wearing shoes, either. (I was, after all, born in Arkansas.)

Shoes are fine for public use, but not all that necessary inside your own house. (They are actually useful out in the yard, particularly if you have dogs, filthy creatures that they are.)

But recently The Boss and I got on a bit of a fitness kick, and started walking a lot. It seemed reasonable to get some actual athletic type walking shoes, which sort of also demanded the use of socks. I was willing to make the sacrifice in the name of health, so I actually bought some socks. (Three pair, that’s the way they were bagged.)

But as is our custom, we were shopping at an El Cheapo Shoe Outlet, and if you bought one pair of shoes, you got another pair at half price. Being a thrifty person, I wound up buying some cheap mesh top rubber sole casual shoes as well.

After a week or so of healthy hikes, I realized the cheap rubber loafers worked just as well as the elegant athletic types, and I decided to get another pair of the no socks required rubber cheapies. Naturally, because of the El Cheapo discount deal, it was prudent to buy another pair at the same time.

So now I had a pair of snooty walking shoes languishing unworn in a closet, and three pairs of the cheap loafers.

There are three portals to Threadstarter World Headquarters. There’s the main lobby and visitor disinformation center entrance, the rear exit from the executive dining facility, and the special access doors to the Corporate Gardens and Dog Runs.

I soon wound up stashing a pair of the cheap loafers at each location. That let me slip on shoes when necessary while allowing shoeless access to the interior spaces. Sometimes I forget to take off the shoes when coming in and wind up wearing them up to The Bridge, but it’s easy to redistribute the pedal assets as I wander through the house during the day.

I was telling The Boss, “Since I’m a wild and crazy guy, I could even wear a left shoe from the front door and a right from the back door!” I thought that sounded exciting.

She replied, “How about a right from the front door and another right from the side door? That would really be wild and crazy!”

I think she might possibly have been making fun of me.

I’m revising my A10 rankings. Top team is Davidson Black. Number 2 is Davidson Red.

A little more seriously, I’d be happy to have either as my team.

Luka is as advertised. Mephisto sat next to me. In terms of David, we can say we told you so a couple years ago. If a couple of the ones that clanged out had fallen, we would be talking about Mike mostly. They will start falling.

We learned the freshmen’s favorite animals.

Enough of space. Now to pick up mail and head for soccer.
