1-1 tie at half. Cats scored on a corner. WFU is out playing us, but we are hanging in with solid D, and we have had a few good counter attacks. Stands about half full with maybe 10 red shirts.

Well that escalated quickly. We played pretty well for most of the 2nd half and were only down 1-2 with 14 minutes to go. We were playing good aggressive offense, and WFU had outshot us only 10-8 at that point. They then scored on a PK for a trip in the box, and the wind went out of our sails and our lungs. Our guys were gassed, and the Deacs pretty much had their way for the rest of the game. Their last goal was a 4-on-1 breakaway.

Wake forest is fast, and they play excellent defense. They deserve their #1 ranking.

It's always best to play them in the rain. Baptists can't stand sprinkling. Razz

Yuck. We are now 4-30-1 against Wake Forrest. Our last win was Oct 19, 1997 (@Wake), which, not so coincidentally, is the last time my jaw didn't require a metal plate to keep it in one piece. I hate Wake.

About 25 years ago, a Davidson staffer and I were talking about non-conference schedules in non-revenue sports. I suggested we play Wake often since the schools were so similar.

His response was that Davidson's and Wake's athletic programs were opposites. Our program had many teams, but the athletes were volunteers. Wake's program was small, but every sport was fully funded. Wake did not have teams in many of the sports Davidson participated in.

It has been a long time since the plurality of the Wake student body has been Baptist.
