The college's website says we won 49-28. Yippee!
They're a scholarship D2 squad, although they don't award a full complement of scholarships.
They're the reverse Tennessee State of D2. Tennessee State is a HBCU that plays in the predominantly white Ohio Valley Conference.
Chowan is a formerly predominantly white college that plays in the predominantly HBCU CIAA. |

Penalties spoiled Chowan's opportunities to be competitive several times, so more of a factor against them than against us. Someone said that they have a good amount of talent, but are undisciplined. The program showed that they have transfers from D1 programs.
That was the first time in my life that I have seen the ball caught instead of blocked on a kick like that. I realize that in terms of sports I lead a relatively sheltered life. That was a fun play to see. I suspect that might have been the player's first TD. There was some minor penalty, but it didn't keep the TD from counting.
Jon Axel and a bunch of girls came and sat behind and beside me in the first half. I recognized that some are on the women's team.
The only other men's team member I saw was Patrick. Some of us talked with him a bit during the half, and others had talked to Matt. His little girl is walking now. Patrick is as optimistic about the season as we fans. He made a point of Bates Jones' progress over the summer and how great the freshmen can be.
Then I talked to Jane a bit about lenses while she began shooting the start of the second half.
Without lightning delays the game and social times are a lot more fun. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

Chowan was channeling a Larry Fedora coached team with all of the dumb penalties and constant yapping. Frankly, the game wasn't near as close as the score indicated.
Decent crowd. Not great. Too bloody hot and Chowan is too far away to help with the attendance much.
I missed the first game so this was my first time with the new offense and defense. I think we may be a bit better. We obviously can run the ball. It's great having a good solid win that also gives the staff a lot of teaching moments as well.
I wish and hope Davidson submitted the blocked FG and return to the ESPN Top Ten. _________________ "I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter."

I couldn't make the game but listened to much of it on the radio. The announcers said that Chowan might be the biggest team we faced all year.
Great win for the Cats. It is great to see the offense attacking using different players. Wicks and Dugger have been strong. I am sure the our opponents will start game planning for them. Expect a big break out game from the QB running in the future.
Depth will be key this season as always. I hope the Cats can stay healthy. _________________ "They were energized by this move to the A-10. How could you not be?" McKillop said. "The tree is filled with a lot of presents." |

I believe the crowd was listed as 3900.
Here is a big shocker Villanova vs Lehigh, attendance 5100. Villanova has a strong team this year and Lehigh used to be a quality legacy program.
I hope all the fans are moving South. _________________ "They were energized by this move to the A-10. How could you not be?" McKillop said. "The tree is filled with a lot of presents." |

Cats dominated; it was 42-7 at half and we subbed fairly liberally in the second half. Will Wicks and Duggar will have a big year. Cats had a number of dumb penalties of their own. Thoroughly enjoyed the game from the end zone tailgate area.
Got to meet AD Clunie before the game as he made the rounds through the paring lot to meet and greet tailgaters; also got to chat with him during the game in the end zone area. Great guy with ton of energy and enthusiasm for the program. _________________ Let's go Mens |
