In the SoCon Women's Tournament, Mercer beat WCU 75-44.

Mercer was 14-0 in the SoCon and is ranked #23, or something. WCU was 1-13 in conference play. The Southern has 8 women's teams because VMI and The Citadel don't play the sport.

These first round blowouts were a part of my youth. An exception was 1-13 Maryland's upset of #1 NC State in the '89 ACC Men's Tournament. It wasn't a nailbiter, Maryland won 71-49.

The SoCon might restart a trend.
