Wish I had seen it, but of course would rather be here.

I got checked into my new room and rode the elevator with several Miami players. I haven’t seen any Davidson folks yet.

Even with my missing this game, I can still echo that the women’s team is fun to watch again.

I had brunch of Spam, Spam, Spam, and eggs. (No joke. Not listed that way on the menu, but that’s what came. Having Spam here was my final Hawaii bucket list item.)

On the way out of the restaurant I saw Cathy and her crew at a table, and she introduced me to everybody. I don’t think I had met the son-in-law before.

I told them about the women’s victory.

rbarney, Live Stats wasn't auto-updating for me. I had to click Refresh repeatedly. You weren't the only one with issues.

No idea why the Davidson website recap hasn't appeared yet. There's a YouTube highlight video up, but it's 9 seconds long and it consists only of a splash sequence.

My recollection of Katie's dagger is that it was one of those plays where the defense abandons the player with the ball because it really looks like she wants to pass.

When she uncovered, I may have screamed at my laptop, "Shoot it!".

Katie had made 4 of 7 threes leading up to that attempt. This is yet another example of a rival school (e.g., less recently, Furman) having difficulty making good in-game decisions based on single-digit arithmetic.

Complain on the internet, get results. Works every time. Thanks, Gavin et al.

Live stats not updating is a vendor issue I believe. the same company does the website for High Point and they were not refreshing there either. guessing there is a technical glitch somewhere in some update. quite frustrating when trying to broadcast a game without accurate stats.

Great win, though it certainly sounded scary at the end!

I come away from the post-game interviews rather less than satisfied. While Gayle obviously has a lot of pride in her team, she doesn't speak much to any strategy or skills that she is trying to develop. Maybe she just doesn't represent herself very well in interviews, but I would like to hear more of her thoughts on coaching this team.

I haven’t listened to the post-game interviews, but when I have heard her in person, she presented herself well and said all the right things.

I'll have a chat with the interviewer.

My $0.02...

* I agree with stevelee. She's terrific from a "customer facing" point-of-view.
* Limited time window, only so many questions that interviewer dude can ask.
* I can attest that at least once this season he asked Coach Gayle a question from a fan.
* Strategy/skill topics do come up, but it's more likely to happen during the pre-game interview.
* She did make a point of mentioning the priority for the final Charlotte sequence, which was to guard the 3-pt line.
* Speaking of strategy, I was delighted when we went zone, and then stuck with it when it was clear that it was working. My sense is that Coach Gayle would prefer to be aggressive on defense, but that adjustment and when she made it had a big impact.

It's possible I missed something since the interview tape seems to begin mid-sentence. However, to re-direct my question to Derek, maybe you could borrow a couple of stock questions from the men's broadcasters, namely:

1. What did you say to the team in the locker-room at half-time?
2. What did you tell the team in that last time-out?
3. What will you be working on with the team before the next game?
. . .

She doesn't seem to respond real thoughtfully to questions trying to elicit a response to a particular player's game. Please don't get me wrong. She is obviously doing something right with this team, but it's hard to discern the specifics from her responses.

One of the frequent criticisms I’ve heard in the past had to do with lack of adjustment at the half. With Gayle, I’ve sensed that’s not the case, and just from the descriptions, it sounds like there were good adjustments in this game, too. I realize this goes beyond my competency to interpret, but is my impression.
