Carter Collins update:
Quote:
East Chapel Hill senior guard Carter Collins knew it was a long time ago when the Wildcats beat Northern. He made sure their losing streak to the Knights didn’t reach double digits as East Chapel Hill took a 63-50 win on Tuesday night.

Collins scored a game-high 28 points as East Chapel Hill (12-4, 4-0 PAC-6) took over first place in the conference race. The Wildcats also bounced back from a pair of back-to-back losses during their holiday tournament action in the South Granville Holiday Invitational.

“It was a big win for us, especially to protect our home court,” Collins said. “We came in tied so this was a big win. I came into this game knowing we needed that win against Northern Durham because since I’ve been on varsity, we haven’t beaten them. It was a good one.”

***

In third quarter, Northern scored the first two buckets to tie the game at 32-32 and then the teams traded baskets for another tie. But when Collins hit a 3 from the top of the key to give the Wildcats a 37-34 lead with 5:25 left in the third, it sparked a 10-0 that let East Chapel Hill grab the momentum.

Luke Frampton update:

Quote:
Senior wing Luke Frampton delivered another memorable effort for Poca with 24 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, four steals and two dunks.

Frampton said the ceremony honoring Osborne â€" who led the program to 627 wins and two Class AA titles in 38 seasons before stepping down in the offseason â€" provided Poca’s players with a little more pep.

“That really helped,’’ Frampton said. “Coach Osborne was a great coach â€" 600-plus wins since he’s been here â€" and when they gave him that court, it really meant a lot to him and it meant a lot to all of us.

“He’s a great guy and he really made me the player I am today. If it wasn’t for him, I don’t know where I’d be at. Him and my dad were the two that really pushed me. So I think it got us fired up and got us going before the game.’’

The score was tied at 22 late in the second quarter before the Dots got 3-pointers to end the half from J.P. Phillips and Bronson Skeens. Then they racked up the first 11 points of the third period to make it 39-22. Frampton hit his only 3 in that run and capped the surge with a steal and dunk.

When Winfield (4-4), which had won three straight, tried to press Poca, Frampton was the one locating the open teammate and delivering the ball for easy layups.

“Luke Frampton is a one-man press break,’’ said Generals coach Bryan England. “He passes the ball so well â€" he’s 6-4 and can see over everything. He just gets the ball where it needs to go and their other guys feed off that. They found their shooters and really made a run shooting the ball well. We’ve just got to make adjustments.’’

Rivals does not rank Frampton, but the DC coaching staff has spoken so highly about Frampton's shooting ability that I am surprised that he is not ranked at all by Rivals. It looks like he has flown under their radar.

Frampton wont get listed as top 100 anywhere because he is seen purely as a shooter, while Grady is a shooter but also a dynamic point guard with great size for the position, which is why he's consistently ranked. Grady also plays for a national powerhouse while Luke plays for a lower division school in West Virginia where he is both the point guard and the tallest player. If Frampton had decided to accept an offer from one of the big schools recruiting him (like Arizona), he likely would have been utilized just as a shooter, but with us he will be able to show off more of his skill set and bball IQ.

Had some free time yesterday and was watching some game tape of Frampton, and I could not be more impressed. As we all know highlights can be deceptive, especially with shooters, but he plays very within himself even though he is the most talented player on the floor, makes smart decisions, and also can explode athletically when he sees space. This excerpt from a game is a good one too watch since he starts very aggressive, while if you are interested the YouTube user posted other excerpts from the game as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akaeqLrBJd4

EDIT: should point out that while Frampton plays point for his high school team because he is the best player, but is definitely a 2-guard in college with the ability to handle the ball if need be. Their offense is also pretty ugly to watch with a lot of standing around and waiting for something to happen.

Frampton has also been touted as a fine defensive player.

Hey everyone, this is Nathan from Verbal Commits. Not sure if it has been reported on here, but I confirmed today that Davidson offered Sean Good over the summer.
