Nickelodeon (sp?) has placed statues of TV characters from various sitcoms in the cities/towns they inhabited in their show. They erected a statue of Andy Taylor (Andrew Jackson Taylor) and Opie in Raleigh. Opie never went to Raleigh. Andy and Barney went there several times and Barney ended up working for the Raleigh PD. Fans and Mount Airians complained.

Nickelodeon relented and placed a statue in Mount Airy, too.

Maybe ESPN could place a statue of Coach McKillop walking with Matt or Brendan with fishing poles on their shoulders. Maybe Pat and Mrs. Dennis could chip in.

I hope wildforthecats' comment refers to the totally extraneous use of my ID by MrMac, since I am otherwise at a total loss as to what interest i should have in Andrew Taylor. It certainly is just the sort of thing to which I referred earlier today in another string.

Deputy Barney and sheriff Andy Taylor are favorites of wftc.

They look out for one another. And they are short, so they are safer from lightning.

I don't know who takes care of poor Horatio, the half a boy.

The Mrs and I have seen said statue while wending our way back northward from DC, and gladly plunked down our money at the museum. But we all know the greatest marvel and head scratcher in Mt Airy is the adjoining Eng and Chang Bunker museum.

Congrats to Walter Whyte (@_walt35_) on making the top 150 247 rankings. UPenn, Davidson are leading for Walter, but is a top Yale target.

Yale recruiting twitter account seems to believe us and UPenn are the favorites for WW. I don't know how much he actually knows, but Yale still scares me the most out of all the teams on his list. Worth noting UPenn also already has two commitments with the same measurements and similar styles of play as WW, including one who is a well regarded prospect who committed on his official visit while WW was also on his UPenn official last week.

Monday night a prof from Birmingham-Southern College played an organ concert at DCPC. The college obviously still exists. It seems like somewhere on this thread someone posted that UAB used to be Birmingham-Southern. That appears not to be the case.

As I think about it, I recall that my summer intern c. 2000 had just graduated from there prior to her heading to Duke Divinity School in the fall.

For extra credit, someone might say how my logic in the first paragraph differs from that behind the question, "If people evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?"

Yale (according to verbal commits) has 20 players on their roster plus 7 who have either transferred elsewhere or left the team. Because, supposedly, they don't give athletic scholarships they can do whatever they want. Nice gig, if you can get it.

Yale gives no athletic scholarships the same way that there is no gambling in Casablanca

Based on need. They need a point guard, they need a power forward..,

I don't know if he is still being recruited hard by Arizona after they've received a bunch of commitments, but if it's between us and Marshall, we could see a decision soon.
