Just yesterday at lunch I reacted negatively to something that a person I don't know was quoted to have said: "She should just go back up North where she belongs." It turns out the woman in question is a Davidson native.

I haven't seen any current information, but as of a few years ago Charlotte was a major transfer point. I do think some effort has been made against that.

Another key element is that there were hundreds of thousands of innocent poor men and boys who died on both sides to settle the issue which rich men and politicians couldn't solve.
This discussion was about a memorial name on a building. Memorials are for the dead. I think we need to know who the dead men and boys were as we step up to a position of moral superiority with a blanket of criticism.
I think CA was right about Mr. Airball. |

Well, it is the 'stupid' thread. I once tried to start a "No limit on goodwill" thread--as a response to some really stupid stuff on the 'stupid' thread--but it got axed by the mods. I'm still bummed; I thought the goodwill thread was actually going to help us get better at finding common ground around here.
I've since lowered my expectations. |
