This is the kind of stupid that should transcend political affiliation. College basketball is a great game. The NBA isn't. We don't need to make the good thing more like the bad thing. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. He could have played 'name that score' if he so desired."---St Joe's fan |

Not in favor of it but it will happen, maybe as soon as next year. SI and ESPN have decreed it. _________________ "There ain't no sanity clause!" Chico Marx |

Which "it" are you speaking of? The 30-second clock? Yes, that will probably happen. This is the full stupid that I was talking about: "I am an advocate, by the way, for the NCAA changing the rules in terms of shortening the shot clock, widening the lane, moving the three-point line back a little bit..." I hope the NCAA isn't really going to do all of that. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. He could have played 'name that score' if he so desired."---St Joe's fan |

The 30 second clock does seem to be a non story. At DC games or most other games 97%of the shots are taken with the shot clock taken with the shotclock about 8 seconds, which is 27 seconds. |

I am tired of this drum beat to reduce the shot clock to 30 seconds, with an objective of getting it to 24, using the decreased amount of scoring in the college game in recent years in an attempt to justify it, as well as to extend the three point line. The damned commentors on the GS - Lakers game two nights ago were flogging these points, speaking of the need to basically standardize the rules to conform to the NBA norms. Thank you, no. If teams can't get and make good shots in 35 seconds they will only do worse with less time, and then you end up with an AAU driven style, NBA-lite, without NBA talent. If they don't like the college game now, they will like it less with the changes. The art and the strategy possible in the current college game will be gone. Don't get me started. |

I'd much rather see a 45-second clock than a 24-second clock. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. He could have played 'name that score' if he so desired."---St Joe's fan |

I want to see a Jimmy Patsos-inspired rule that requires a squad to double-team the opponent's leading scorer, leading to a 4-on-3 mismatch every offensive possession. It would promote good sportsmanship, because the two-on-one players can stand around and chat, getting to know each other. _________________ “Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.†— Jeff Bridges as The Dude in "The Big Lebowski" |

Speaking of Patsos, Tony Kornheiser had him on his radio show last week, when he was talking with Gary Williams for about two hours. Patsos went out of his way to say that everything is cool with Steph, and they even joke about it now. He said that he's also joked about it over the years with Dell. Patsos can't understand what all the fuss is about. He was just a ball coach trying to do his job. He also said that the guys on his team told him at half time that they thought the strategy was working and asked him to keep doing it. The guy makes me sick. I've often wondered what Coach McKillop really thought about this whole incident. |
