2024 Battle 4 Atlantis

Post by DC69Wildcat » Wed Nov 29, 2023 4:44 pm

Wow! University of Arizona, Creighton, Gonzaga, Indiana, Louisville, Oklahoma, and West Virginia join our own Wildcats on Paradise Island next Thanksgiving weekend, November 27-29. We will play 3 games over 3 days. Tickets and accommodations are available now.

My wife and I honeymooned at the Paradise Island Hotel 51 years ago. Might be time for a trip down memory lane. This could even be as exciting as the Bahamas Bowl ... oh, wait.

"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''

Paradise Island was once called Hog Island.

There’s an old fortification in Nassau that offers a good view of the area. Old maps and other exhibits show how it looked in the past. That’s where I saw the Hog Island reference.

Michael Jones and the Stanford Cardinal just wrapped their appearance in the 2023 version of this tournament. They were 0-3. MJ played 32 minutes a game and averaged 10 points. He appears to be Stanford's most efficient offensive player.

Jared Bynum, who started his college career at St. Joe's in 18-19, is apparently their second grad transfer ever. The Stanford roster notes that his season-high point total in 20-21 (when he was at Providence) was 14 against the Cats on 12/1.
