Ugh.
Very close to the vest. He has said nothing about Davidson recently in the reports I've read quoting him. In the full article linked in the Tweet the author seemed more excited about Davidson than does Tyson.

Wolverines aren't real, are they?

Love,

Wouldn't it be crazy if the Michigan coaching staff had such admiration of the Davidson coaching staff that they actually follow our recruiting and use our offers as talent scouting only to come in and offer a bigger conference and bigger brand name.

Wouldn't that be crazy?

Also looks like he likes us a lot, lists us first among the schools recruiting him. He's also planning on visiting Vanderbilt, likes Belmont. http://www.hoopseen.com/news/player/201 ... rew-taylor

The quality of the play by play is remarkable.

1. The play by play adds a lot to the video, much better than music.

2. The excellent announcing is probably standard fare in basketball-crazed Kentucky.

3. Andrew has a brother!

It looked to me as if he said he was"supposed" to visit Vandy. Probably reading too much into that, but I like that he "likes" us.

He ended up at UC-Davis, which is a good school academically. We decided to not offer him a scholarship. He would have helped us in '14-'15 and '15-'16.

We had two junior college players in the '80s, Tommy McConnell and Pat Riazzi. Both came to Davidson when we had a lot of players leaving. Pat Riazzi has a son on the tennis team now.

The advantage of a JUCO player is that we get to see him play at a higher level than high school and he will be healthy when he enters the program.
Monson's situation was an unusual one, perhaps sui generis.

In the 80's (close on 40 years ago), it was a different college basketball landscape. I feel that those players who go the JUCO route in today's hoops world would struggle academically at ol' DU.

Quick update based on public reports on our recent wave of offers:

Miller Kopp and Saddiq Bey have been asked about the schools they are most interested in and have not mentioned us among their top schools, although since we offered both recently that could theoretically change.
Kopp: https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com ... -stand-out
Bey: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/rec ... e4be426368

Andrew Taylor on the other hand listed us first among his schools of interest and plans to visit in June: http://www.hoopseen.com/news/player/201 ... rew-taylor

There is little recent information out there about Michael Jones and his schools of interest (of it there is, I can't find it because his name isn't kind to search engines). I also haven't seen much about Bryce Golden.

As far as the guys we offered previously, not much new there either. I think we have a solid chance at Riley Battin but Northwestern is a big threat there (he seems to like them a lot), while Hunter Tyson is set to visit Michigan next month and plans on deciding during the summer. Trey Wertz doesn't list us among his top few schools (https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com ... s-progress)

Hopefully this information is helpful, and I hope you all had a terrific Memorial Day weekend.

I think we are in the hunt with Rip Economou. He grew up with Davidson basketball. (Mother was a Davidson coach) Field hockey?

Yes, no notable updates to my knowledge, although he did update his hairstyle to embody early-2000s Eminem:
