I guess I'm just old.

Don't forget that citycat and wftc are bona fide wizards. Wizards love obfuscation, so as to create befuddlement and stupefaction among the non-wizards on this board.

Confucius say, "Female cat who visits the lard too much leaves a little paw.”

(Actually it’s an Italian proverb, but doesn’t make any more sense in Italian, except by context. Maybe it’s better in Chinese.)

Yes. I think you have to be of a certain age to have much knowledge of the Charlie Chan movies. The movies were made from 1931 to 1949, in black and white. Although surely offensive to some today, the movies had a certain charm. Charlie, who was often condescended to, was always the smartest guy in the room. No. 1 son, played by Keye Luke, was a certified fool though.

Number One Son was the representative of modern youth, attempting to put away the past wisdom, and the comic relief for the film.

Keye Luke had a long prolific career on stage, screen, and TV.

Wait now, I'm still confused - is "Luke" Keye Ball's middle name or not?

I didn't watch "Kung Fu," but perhaps more folks on this board did than there are those who are familiar with old Charlie Chan movies.

The best case has always been that the school would lose accreditation, lose all federal dollars, etc. But that won't happen. They'll escape with some harsh words and a wink. Evil thrives.

As a UNC alum and current employee, I'd call loss of accreditation a worst-case-scenario. It's a very good school that provides a solid education to 99.9% of its students and produces a wealth of new knowledge from its federally (and privately) funded research. A loss of accreditation would have far-reaching consequences for an untold number of people (students, staff, NC citizens, etc), none of whom have had anything to do with athletics.

UNC has allowed itself to be tarnished by its athletics program. We need top-level housecleaning, and a complete relegation of athletics to DIII or NAIA. Only then will the university be allowed to focus on being an actual institute of higher learning.
