Dayton winning at VCU, Loyola winning at GW, and Fordham winning at Duquesne were all upsets. Davidson, Richmond, and St Joe's surprised nobody. The Bonnies were the only road loser and they are unlikely to win any A10 road games.
Up next: at SLU

Massey picked us to win by 2. So there was still some surprise.i77cat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 5:26 pmhttps://www.espn.com/womens-college-bas ... /2/group/3

And one might be surprised that the game was played at all, given the weather.

Massey's numbers were surprised, but we are better than his numbers indicate. I was surprised by the margin, the total points, and the shooting percentage from range, but I thought it would be an easy win. Happy to see Duquesne lose another one. I even watched the final minutes to see if their coach melted down or if their announcers were delusional again.

Unfortunately, I didn't watch the game, and it was televised on CBS Sports Network, not ESPN+, so there is no way to watch a replay. Statistically, that may have been the best half of basketball ever played by a Davidson basketball team, men or women. The 2007-2008 men's team's first half against UCLA and 2nd half against Wisconsin were certainly epic, especially since they were against nationally ranked opponents, but still, today's first-half numbers are almost unbelievable.
59 points.
20-31 field goals (65%).
11-13 three pointers (85%), including 8 straight to start the game. We cooled off after that, though, hitting only 3 of the next 5.
8-10 free throws (80%).
15 assists on 20 made baskets.
6 steals.
18 rebounds to only 5 for SLU.
8 offensive rebounds (remember, we only missed 11 shots from the floor and 2 FTs). For the game, we scored 33 second-chance points. SLU had 5.

"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''
