Got to 2-3. We added a great goal with 40 seconds left. Insane penalty on Alonzo Clarke with 2 seconds left. Keeper stops the PK. Final. 2-4.

UMass was #21 in the NCAA rankings coming into this match. They were also 4th in D1 for scoring, and 5th in goal differential. Their star, Alec Hughes, is #1 in the A10 and tied for 3rd in D1 for goals. He didn't get off a single shot tonight. Alonzo and his fellow defenders frustrated Hughes so badly that with 8:30 left he deliberately bowled over one of the Davidson defenders and got ejected. Then he stood in front of the ref and yelled at him while waving a finger in his face. I suspect the conference will have something to say about that. Great win, and it vaults us ahead of UMass and Fordham into 4th place in the conference.

Nice save by Beltran on the PK with 2 seconds left.
"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''
