In Game: A-10 Round One vs Fordham
In Game: A-10 Round One vs Fordham
I have enjoyed doing the thread-starters during this season. But they took a surprising amount of work. It gives me a greater understanding of why the role as thread-starter author ground down bobmckellar to the point where he decided to retire. I believe his efforts, year-in and year-out, will never be surpassed.
Having written this preface, I want to help another frequent poster during the in-game thread. Stan, to save you some typing time during the game, I am offering this list of commands in advance for the readers' benefit. I am emphatically NOT taking issue with these imperatives and I am not a hater; I agree with them. It's just that some of us get a chuckle out of how frequently and urgently you issue them during a game, as if the players can hear you in real-time. And maybe, just maybe, the team hears you telepathically as you urge them to improve. I certainly hope so, because you give solid advice.
Bend your knees.
Stay low.
Box out.
Don't pick up your dibble for no good reason and with no one to pass to.
Don't try to continue dribbling when the double-team arrives.
Don't piss away a lead by having brain farts.
No inaccurate left-handed shove passes without getting the right hand involved.
Make sure feet are set on jumpers.
Don't try a close-range layup that has no chance of going in.
Footwork is fundamental.
And, GO CATS!

These things are called "fundamentals" for a reason.

Especially the one about brain farts.
"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''

Surprisingly, the NY Post has our Cats a strong 3.5 point favorite over hometown Fordham. Here’s hoping, GO CATS!

I came here to read about how hard it is to beat a team three times in one season. Disappointed so far.

I just hadn't got around to posting that yet. Of course, if we lose the game, that will be repeated here, or would have if you hadn't posted that.wildforthecats wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 9:40 amI came here to read about how hard it is to beat a team three times in one season. Disappointed so far.

2 -2 with 4 1/2 minutes gone... Logan with 2 blocks
Looking good if you took the under.

Great start defensively, not so much offensively. Hum, said that refrain before.

A real offensive slugfest so far, and I do mean offensive.

Brizzi working on the bingo card with an "inaccurate left handed shove pass" ,...

Brizzi’s a turnover machine so far. Out of control. Slow down.

Logan draws their big out to the key and Grant takes their guard down low for a score.. Nice
