Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
I've heard that Connor and David are planning to come back. That would be sweet.

Hmmm. Maybe I’ll buy some Skogman gear after all.

Connor is playing a lot better than last year. It will be great to have his contribution to the team for another year.

Oh, I wouldn't say anything is for sure. People may change their minds. I'm glad they want their degrees from Davidson.

If you really want to see a stellar coaching and recruiting job, take a look at what Charlotte’s own Justin Gray has done at WCU so far this season. They’re 12 and 2, and this is Gray’s first head coaching job after a long and successful career playing overseas. If you watched him play as an undergrad at Wake Forest with a broken jaw, you know he is a seriously tough competitor. I look for him to be the head coach at Wake in about 10 years, after former ETSU HC Steve Forbes retires from an illustrious career there.

WCU has beaten Notre Dame at South Bend and Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Gray may be coaching in Nashville in less than a decade.

Gray may be coaching at Vandy as soon as March or April. Stackhouse is on life support in Nashville.

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Gray's 5-year contract with WCU, signed in April, 2021, is for $250,000 per year. Vandy paid Stackhouse $3.1 million in 2022. He also received an extension that year, but the length of his current contract is not available. The typical extension is 5 years. In addition to buying out Stackhouse, I assume Vanderbilt will have to compensate WCU some amount for poaching Gray. Needless to say, it will cost Vanderbilt dearly to fire Stackhouse.

Vanderbilt has $. Their endowment is over $10 billion.
SEC schools bring in big bucks for TV rights. Vandy charges $57k for tuition and has recently had a big increase in applications.
DC’83 Dr. James Crowe’s virus lab at Vandy partners w Moderna. Moderna and Dolly Parton have pumped lots of dollars into research and some of the developments are profitable.
In short, I don’t feel sorry for Vandy

Didn’t Texas A&M pay Jimbo something like $78,000,000 to take his whistle and leave? Firing Stackhouse will be less expensive than keeping him would be. The puzzler is why they didn’t figure it out a few years ago.

That's absurd! Reason #83 to not watch FBS football. Florida State recently provided Reason #82.

I was told a group of A&M alums met and agreed to pony up then went to the AD to tell him they had the money in hand.
I don’t know if that’s true, and the guy who told me that didn’t say how many were in the group
