If I had nightmares they'd look like this thread.

All I can see are malevolent clowns.

People who are relatively new to this website and unfamiliar with the oddballs who post on it would look at this thread and think we are ... well, odd.

I think that's Grant.
Bob in the huddle during timeout: "Don't listen to BDL!"
Matt: "Coach, that's BDF."
Bob: "What?! There's two of them!?"

I just got my first view of Riccardo Ghedini this morning on you tube video. His style is eerily reminiscent of a current neighbor who played for Akron in the early 80's, Joe Jakubick. Joe led the nation in scoring one year averaging 30 ppg. I don't have a good memory of Brian Adrian's style of play, but I think it was somewhat similar to Jakubick's. ergo Riccardo. Some of you guys who remember Adrian might invalidate or validate my belief. If we get near that quality of play from Riccardo we will all be happy.
Edit: Thinking of Adrian prompted me to google him. Which led me to the comments about him on this forum after he died. And the article in the Observer. They are definitely worth re reading. Plus a terrific post by Prophet about Adrian, alone, in Johnston Gym. The posts about Adrian are in the HOF thread.

Thank you, cat44, for the mention of Bryan Adrian and the HOF thread. I went back to it and was as mesmerized by the eloquence of those writing about Bryan as I had been fifty years ago by Bryan's transcendent gifts. I was privileged to know him slightly. The Observer article at the time of his death was fine and I wrote to Scott of my appreciation for his thoughtful piece on this unusual man whose game possessed artistry and elegance. Early Manu Genobili is as close as i can come to identifying a player with Bryan's attributes. if Ghedini can approximate Bryan's game, Bob and DU will have someone extraordinary indeed. I like that Ghedini is given time to get to know our system and his teammates. I look forward to his play.

Shortly after Adrian’s death I listened at the post office to a conversation about him between his former landlady and Leland Park. I don’t recall specific content, but it was a fantastic and sympathetic discussion.
