I really like what I have seen so far from this coaching staff. Looking forward to first game on September 1st.

I had a chance to meet with Coach Abell and Coach Berlin during the reunion earlier this month. I liked what I heard from both of them and I like the approach both appear to be taking.

I like these coaches too but let's not get too giddy for next year. The first year of a triple option program tends to be pretty rough. It is an intricate ball handling offense. Our QB's need some serious reps to figure out how to read this offense under live fire.

I will hope for the best but I do expect a good deal of turnovers this first year.

Not really referring to wins and losses in my post. More that the Cats are headed in the right direction.

Any word how pre season progressed? I did not get a chance to attend any practices. QB?? Option?? Defense? Does anyone have any insight how it is all coming together? Quality freshmen??

I've actually heard a lot; all positives. The first thing I heard was how the guys actually enjoy playing for the new coach and how different things are with Nichols gone. Not to disparage the coach but a lot of football players have said they're happy to move away from the "nightmare" that was Nichols tenure.

It was also stated how complex and intricate the new offensive system is. Lastly, some red meat for the board.... The football players think they can/will win 7 games. I've heard that figure straight from my friends on the team and I've heard that number second hand from athlete friends who share facilities with the football players.

Cats will play up tempo on offense. As a chain-gang guy, I need to be ready to move. Tyler Phelps will no doubt get the nod at QB.

That's great that the team is so confident. And happy with the new coaching staff. I'd be thrilled to be on the purchasing end of our wager. Wanna double our bet?

Okay. I think there are about 7 games where we have some reasonable chance to win. Winning every game where you have a chance is a pretty big ask. Massey says we have 7 games with a 20% or greater chance to win, 5 games with a 40% or greater chance. The other four games are 0%, 5%, 10%, and 13%. We start with our weakest opponent. #793 at #562. 95% chance. 14-38. We only scored 30 against them last year, but we should have won by a much larger margin. I think the Cats can take this by at least 40 points.
