I like it! I think he will advocate for athletics within our administration and I think he will hold staff accountable for success (or lack thereof).

His biggest challenge and responsibility will be raising money. He should do very well at that. Don't think he will be penny wise and pound foolish.

Excellent!

Give Scott, Jamie, and Dick raises. Hire Jip Richards.

We will be off to the races!

This is amazing. Clu is a phenomenal dude and a charismatic person. Hopefully the admin lets him do his thing! Best hire Davidson has made in a long time.

I don't know him, but I am excited reading about him, and thrilled to see the excitement of those who do know him! Very Happy

Great news! Sounds like a very good hire. Kudos to all involved in the decision making process.

Underwhelmed. Too young. No experience at any level in college administration based on the press release. Reminds me of the Nichols hiring. We should surely be able to do better than be a training wheel.

Totally true about no experience and lack of fundraising. However, for some reason, and an intangible or two perhaps, I like this pick.

Rumor mill seems to imply that we were not offering anywhere near the going rate on compensation, which may have limited our pool of potential applicants a bit.

Bob McKillop had zero college head coaching experience when he was hired. He seems to be able to ride a bike.

I agree with all the comments, except cat44's gripe.

I got to know Chris during this year's Watson Fellows reunion weekend earlier in the spring. He is personable, engaging, eloquent, and good-looking. He exudes self-confidence and possesses a maturity beyond his years. I thought to myself at the time that he'd be an excellent choice.

There have been comments that we were limited in who we could approach because our proposed salary was so low.

Chris can take care of that himself by helping raise money. If he helps raise money for scholarships and our teams win more championships and make NCAA Tournament appearances, perhaps some alumni, fans, and parents will donate money to endow the Athletic Director's position at a competitive salary.

Chris has a graduate degree from Columbia. He earned that while working for the NBA. He knows Steph, having been one of the players Steph stayed with when he visited Davidson in the Fall of 2005.

Chris was a varsity athlete on winning teams. He was a walk-on. Even if Davidson raises enough money to award every scholarship the NCAA allows, Davidson will be dependent on walk-ons to field competitive teams.
