We travel to Amherst on Thursday and Friday the 18th and 19th. Thursday is a doubleheader.

The Cats are 25-22 and 11-10 in the A-10. UMass 13-30 and 7-14. Our respective RPIs are #143 and #262.

Winning the series will put us in the A-10 Tourney.

Cats rally fall short 7-6.
At this moment we are in 7th, 1/2 game back on #6 St.Louis and 1/2 game ahead of #8 St.Joes and Fordham. Fordham already won today (2-1 over the Bonnies). St.Louis and St.Joes each have games starting at 3pm.

A-10 website has up-to-date (thru Thursday games) standings:

http://www.atlantic10.com/standings/Standings.dbml

RI has finished its conference schedule. We have a single game left with UMass. All other teams have two games remaining. Cats are currently in seventh place at 12-11, 1/2 game up on St. Joe, and a full game up on Fordy. No other teams currently behind us can make the tourney. I had previously posted that if we take two of three from UMass, we are in the tourney. I no longer think that is definitely true. If St. Joe wins two, GW will lose two, and there will be a three-way tie at 13-11. If St. Lou and Mason split, Mason will also be 13-11, making it a four-way tie. I have no idea how these tie-breakers would play out.

All I know for sure is that it is better for us to win than to lose on Friday. But even if we lose, there are still ways for us to make the tourney. After the Friday games, the situation will be a lot clearer. We definitely want GW and St. Bonnie to win, and we don't want St. Lou and Mason to split their last two.

It's late, and I don't want to take time to go through all the possibilities.

Go, Cats.

Scoreless until the top of the 10th. Cats up 5-0, still batting.
