"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''

EVY FOR THE BRONZE!!!!!

There is only one run in the finals, not two as I had assumed. There were 3 clean runs out of 12 in the finals. Even the Gold Medalist, Jessica Fox from Oz, had 2 penalty points.
Jessica Fox is really something. I hope she doesn't play Tiger to Evy's Phil for her whole career.

Evy won her heat in the Canoe Cross event and moves to the quarterfinals. She came in 6th in the initial time trials, so she should get good seeding through the knockout rounds. Quarters, semis, and finals all tomorrow.

Nice video of Evy's Bronze Medal in the Canoe Slalom event.

Evy finished 3rd in her quarterfinals race today, so she will not make the semis of the Kayak Cross event. That ends her hopes for another medal, but her bronze in the Canoe Slalom was an outstanding result, especially for someone her age. She should be a favorite in 2028. Go Evy, Go Cats.

Fox is 30 years old. She is unlikely to get much better.

Fox also won the gold in kayak cross . . . Noemie Fox, not Jessica. Noemie is 27, and sister Jessica, who won the gold in the other two women's canoeing events, is 30. Jessica appears to be so much better than everyone else in this sport that she could lose a lot of her skills over the next 4 years and still be the best woman in the water.
