Shaggy with the grand slam to right center. 12-2 Cats.
"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''

3-14, final. Fix threw the final 3 innings.

Cavanaugh pitched well, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks. Fix pitched better, giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 1 walk.

Team ERA is now 7.56, a vast improvement over the 10.00+ that we had about 3 weeks ago.

Not too long ago, we looked like we had 2 starters. Feczko was excellent in his start on Sunday. And we have some surprise options on the near horizon. Looking much better.

It appears that the Hawks pen in not up to snuff. Hopefully we can run their starter off today in the early innings.

Getting guys back from injury sure helps.

Jed will be back soon. I don't know about Torreso or Hultquist. Schuchart had an injury that required surgery. Then some additional surgery. He was a projected starter. Hopefully we get him back this season. I hear that Pyne won't be available this season. That's a shame. I wanted to see a 6'6", 240 lb Davidson pitcher. And you know I love local kids. We're missing a lot of key pieces.

Their starter yesterday, #33, was good. Very impressive outing. JR, Rucker's dad, and I all shook his hand when he walked past us. Once we got past his 100+ pitch count, we were in business. Their starter today is also solid.

I'm glad to see Feczko coming around. He was 10-1 his freshman season, and a member of the freshman All-American team. Last season was a huge disappointment, and I never heard why. I blamed it on coaching, but I'm not sure that's fair. Anyway, we do have a new pitching coach this year, and the pitchers in general do seem to be getting better. I would love to see Feczko get back to his freshman form.

Ouch. Feczko leaves down 5-0 with bases loaded, 2 out in the 3rd.

Our announcer is interesting. Called St Joe's the Warhawks at the start of the game.

Got the 3rd out on a great play at the wall by Dougie.

Champey in. He'll be better than he was Thursday. Has to be. Tough spot. He's coming in with one out and runners on the corners.

Well, we won the series and hit the ball well. But....... our pen was astoundingly poor and we can't field a lick. I don't understand the continued errors.

Need to beat Queens. Our next two conference series are tough ones - VCU and St Louis both on the road.
