Up next: Penn State (W)

Friday, two on Saturday, Sunday. The rain that is expected to start around lunch on Friday should be done around breakfast Saturday. Warren Nolan says we'll lose all four. Hard to sweep a team in 3, much harder in 4. If the weather cooperates, I like our chances to win one. Maybe even two. Go Cats.

Any word on whether we'll play just 3? I guess we could play 2 Saturday and 2 Sunday.

Penn State won a series at Stanford (yes, Stanford) last time out. They must be pretty good.

It will be interesting to see how we manage our pitchers this weekend. We only have 16 pitchers on the roster. So far, Cavanaugh and Weber have been the only ones able to consistently contain our opponents for 4+ innings. I'm glad we only have to stretch the staff over 3 games rather than 4.

Still counting, actually. 1-6 with 2 outs and 2 on. We only have 2 hits.

We mercy-ruled them! 2-14 after 7 complete. Final.

Good call, David. Mercy rule it is. That takes a little bit of the sting out of the basketball game.

Wilson Perkins came up big on the mound. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings, and got 8 strike outs. Best of all, he threw 64 of his 94 pitches for strikes, he walked only 1, and he didn't hit anybody. And the Wildcats had no errors, so for the first time this season, we didn't give any runs away. Ban got the final 3 outs.

Penn State's starter couldn't find the strike zone and gave up 2 hits, 5 walks, and allowed 6 earned runs in less than an inning. Their relievers didn't do much better.

Good win against a top 100 team.

Wish I could have seen this one - sounds like we played a perfectly clean game. It would be nice to win this series.

Davidsonwildcats.com, trust them at your own risk, says first pitch today is at 1230.
That same site also says 1 pm-- https://davidsonwildcats.com/news/2024/ ... n-saturday but the spots that say 1230 are more recent.

ESPN+ says 1230.

Probably 1230. Gonna be great weather. Let's go win the series.

Warren Nolan says today is 112 at 220 and has us losing twice, 9-4 and 9-8.

According to Warren Nolan, we improved 59 places by beating Penn State.

We play Tennessee Tech and Siena in series in upcoming weekends. They were 291 and 292 according to Nolan last night. There are about 305 D1 baseball teams.
