Today's game went only 6 1/2 innings because of the 7-inning mercy rule. Rucker used 9 pitchers, giving several seldom-used guys a chance for some game experience. Only 2 of the 9, Micah Baermann and Will Banks, escaped without allowing any runs. Baermann is in his 4th year on the team, and he had never pitched in a game before today. Although he gave up a single, that runner was erased with a DP, and Baermann was the only Davidson pitcher to get three up and three down.
