I liked trying Katz. He gave us 2 scoreless at UNCC after the first 3 pitchers gave up 7 earned runs. Each.

8-9 now with 2 out. Runners at 1st and 2nd...

We went to Fix. Hit the first guy to load the bases.
I'll bow out, David. I ain't adding anything.
Unfortunately, the visiting Wildcats added plenty.
Bottom 8, clinging to 8-9.

Hope it's enough. Bring on Bennett Flynn to close it out. Oh...wait.

Nice job by Ban. He threw strikes and got outs. Easy.

Whew!

Game 2. Freshman Cooper Cavanaugh on the mound, 6 up, 6 down with 3 strikeouts on only 24 pitches. 15 of those were strikes. Cats get 2 in the first on a leadoff single by Calero and a home run by Shaggy.

Woohoo! I was hoping that we'd get baseball or lacrosse on ESPN+ since the WBB team is taking the day off, but I don't see either of them available. Anyone have any other info?

Shaky 4th for Cavanaugh. He got his 5th K, then gave up 2 doubles. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he struck out the next batter, but the ball got away from Friend (Cavanaugh was credited with a WP), the batter made it to 1st, and a run scored. The next batter walked to load the bases, and the Good Wildcats then turned two and got out of it still ahead 2-1. Cavanaugh now has allowed 2 hits, 4 walks, 1 earned run, and has struck out 6 through 4 innings.

Villanova with a walk and a home run in the 5th, take a 3-2 lead. Taylor left Cavanaugh in one too many innings. We used a lot of relievers yesterday, and he may not have anybody left in the pen that is any better than a tired Cavanaugh.

Weber gets out of it. Good Cats tie it up in the bottom of the 5th on a single and a pair of doubles. Bad Cats batting in the 6th.

Weber is pitching well in relief, gets 3 outs on just 11 pitches in the top of the 7th. Hopefully he can make it through 8, then let Ban close it like he did last night. He only threw 12 pitches, so he should be good to go again today.
