Re: A-10 Baseball Predictions
I'm surprised at that lofty prediction for the Cats. We lost our 2 best hitters, Ryan Wilson and Michael Carico, and our 3 best pitchers, Will Schomberg, Bennett Flynn, and A.J. Pabst. We have some good hitters returning in O'Shaughnessy, Cotrone, and Wilhoit, and Rucker Taylor is a great hitting coach, so we should be able to score. We managed 7.87 runs per game last year. Unfortunately, our pitching beyond Schomberg, Flynn, and Pabst was disappointing, and we allowed 8.14 runs per game (ERA 7.18). We have 1 returning pitcher, Isaac Fix, with an ERA < 7.00, and most of the others were >8.00. We did, however, hire a new pitching coach, so maybe that will help. One other hopeful note is that the A10 is not a very good baseball conference. Go Wildcats!
"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''
