Weston Wilson
29-year-old Phillies rookie Weston Wilson hit for the cycle yesterday vs the Nationals. He got a sniff with the Phillies last year and made the national sports news by hitting a home run in his first Major League at bat, but only played in 8 games before going back down. He is from High Point and played college ball at Clemson a long time ago. I seem to remember someone on this board (citycat?) mentioning that he has a connection to Davidson.
"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''
Re: Weston Wilson
It must have been someone else. I have a faint recollection of one of stevelee's neighbors having a connection.
Wilson went to Wesleyan Christian High School in High Point. MLB player Wil Myers went there. So did Davidson pitcher Will Papciak.
Wilson's first home run last year was hit off Mackenzie Gore, a first round draft choice from Whiteville, NC. Columbus County produces some decent baseball players, including Otis and Donell Nixon, and Tommy Greene.

I work w his uncle. The uncle is the elected DA in Randolph County. That side of the family is from Randleman.
Re: Weston Wilson
JAM1 received a broken bat from Weston on 4/13/2018. Weston signed it with the inscription "Good Luck Little Buddy!" That bat is one of the 28 in JAM1's bat bed.
