Texas and Florida are tied 5-5 late in the US championship game at the LLWS.
The local ABC station is no longer showing the game- they are showing a paid program for some pain patch.
Heidi revisited
Re: Heidi revisited
The Triad's ABC station is channel 45. It was an independent station until 1995 when channel 8, the previous ABC station, became a Fox affiliate so they could broadcast most of the Carolina Panthers' games.
Channel 45 became the ABC affiliate and added local news. Their news broadcasts were halfhearted and they were at the bottom of the ratings. Eventually, they quit producing and broadcasting local news.
ABC threatened or cajoled them and they resumed local news coverage, but only with a local reporter or two. The anchorwomen/men and meteorologists are in Asheville at channel 13. It's worth watching because they trouble have pronouncing the names of the towns in the Triad.
There was a similar situation at channel 18 in Charlotte in the 1970s. It was the ABC affiliate and they were required to have local news. Their anchorwoman was the station owner's daughter. In 1978, ABC moved to channel 9, 36 became NBC, and 18 became an independent station. In the late 1980s, it became a Fox affiliate and resumed their local news coverage with someone other than the owner's daughter in front of the camera.
