Birmingham-Southern College, a NCAA D3 school, is closing 5/31/24.
Their baseball team has advanced to the D3 playoffs. They play at Denison University this weekend. If they win that best 2 of 3 series, they'll play the next weekend. They could continue playing despite the school having closed.
Go Panthers!
It Could Be Worse
Re: It Could Be Worse
I was in grad school with a couple Birmingham-Southern alums. One summer my intern was a recent graduate who was heading for Duke Divinity School in the fall. Sharp folks. I’m sorry that the school has fallen on hard times.

The Panthers swept Denison to advance to the Division III College World Series.
The Division III World Series includes 8 teams. The teams are divided into groups of 4 and play a double elimination format until 2 teams emerge. Those 2 play a best of of 3 series to determine the champion.
The first games are 5/31/24, which is Birmingham Southern's last day of existence. The baseball team will continue to play even though the school no longer exists. "To oblivion, and beyond!"
