For a while I coached a HS tennis team. I made sure I always called them the ‘women’s tennis team’. I also refused to use ‘Comettes’. We were the Blue Comets, not some nonsense word. Thankfully I have not heard ‘Comettes’ used for any of the teams in years.

I’ve not heard of any female Rams teams referred to as the Ewes. UMass has Minutewomen, but some high schools have Lady Minutemen.

The NFL Rams called their cheerleaders ‘The Embraceable Ewes’ for a while.
