This is great news. Welcome, Sallie!

I wouldn't mind watching a game of H-O-R-S-E between Sallie and 2019 signee Cameron Tabor.

Wow. Overall rank of 60. #9 at her position. Score of 90. 3 stars. 6'2 wing. Sounds like a major signing.

Name the last Wildcat recruit who was rated #60 or better. Any sport. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxHdXmDm17Q

She certainly was. And we've other exceptional paddlers, but that is a very small pond. In sports where recruits are ranked, I think that Sallie Schutz is the highest rated high schooler we've landed in 50 years. Fantastic job by the Women's Basketball staff.

Fred Hetzel was very highly rated in '61. There were several great forwards that year: Rick Barry, Bill Bradley, Billy Cunningham, and Hetzel. UNC grabbed Cunningham, probably when McGuire was still their head coach. Bradley announced he was going to Duke. Barry opted for Miami. Lefty latched onto Hetzel.
Bradley went to Duke, but left before classes began and enrolled at Princeton. There were negotiations between Bradley's dad and the Princeton administration that caused his parents to have him become a Tiger. Had Bradley opted for Princeton earlier, Hetzel may have ended up at Duke or Miami.
Hetzel is listed as consensus All American in my Basketball book from '79. There were about 30 All Americans per season. Players were eligible as long as they were in high school. They did not have to be seniors.
Hetzel and Bobby Lane were the only Davidson players listed as All Americans. The lists ran from the mid-'50s to '78-'79.
Rob Ukrop was a top rated soccer player. Richmond knew he was coming because his dad had been a soccer star there. Charlie Slagle got in early and worked on the family. He was able to offer a smidgen of scholarship aid, which delighted the Ukrops.

Matt Pacifici was a highly rated high school keeper. We didn't get him out of Charlotte Catholic, though. We got him as a transfer from Wake.

Didn't know Dad play soccer. I did know Bobby played basketball, as we saw him play vs Davidson on 2/10/68. Cats won of course. Maloy didn't have that great of a game, especially in the first half.
