46 - 6?! Do they need a kill rule in high school basketball?

A "mercy rule" already exists at the national level, but it's optional at the state level.

It calls for a running clock in the 2nd half when the margin is sufficiently high.

My Little League team was so bad the first year I played we celebrated when an opponent needed 7 innings to beat us. We went to Biff Burger. When we won, we went to McDonald's.

Westminster Christian Academy lost their game to Central Christian today. Sorry, I don't have a score.

Disappointing, but still, 2nd in the state is plenty impressive for a team that lost four senior starters from last season.

A few more things about Suzi-Rose Deegan...

* Publicly available announcement can now be found here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BuTWl3eFvIX/

* Just FYI… pretty high comp level at that 3x3 competition to which Derek linked. Most of the players from the other countries also play for their national teams in the FIBA tournaments. Among these 16 and 17 year olds, there is at least one international player who is already a WNBA prospect, per Google. And all four USA players are currently in the espnW Top 5 for their respective years.

Here’s a brief interview from the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_czaNPr0tw

* Some ties to Adelaide Fuller… Both Rosie and Adelaide were Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence scholars at the Australian Institute of Sport in 2018. They played together on BA CoE’s SEABL team, at the same time Cassidy Gould was playing for Diamond Valley's SEABL team. And, of course, both starred for their respective state teams in the recent U20 tournament.

Rosie Deegan’s Western Australia state team finished third at U20s. She scored 32 points in the bronze medal game, including two buckets (5 pts) in the final 38 seconds, one of which was this game winning jumper with time running out.

This Suzi-Rose Deegan article includes a few nuggets not covered here previously.

https://highposthoops.com/2019/02/26/au ... -davidson/

h/t Derek Smith.

Carla Drennan, mentioned therein, is the player who set up Rosie Deegan for that bronze medal game winner.

Side note... The Western Australia U20 squad was not the tallest team. In fact, at 5-9, Rosie jumped center for them in all seven games. She was credited with winning the opening tap in three of those games.

Adelaide Fuller won the tap in the WA/QLD game, in case you were wondering.

I'm going to put this up today, as tomorrow's game is fairly early in the day.

** Peyton Carter and her #1 Nease team will do battle with #7 Fort Myers tomorrow at noon ET (I think) in the Florida class 7A semis in Lakeland.

Panthers versus Green Wave.

If the scorer does his job diligently, I think you'll be able to track the running score here. There's a live stream for the game, but it will set you back $10 to watch it.

The streaming link above says the game is at 10 am. Everywhere else I've looked says 12 noon, including the official bracket.

Amazingly, the other semifinal is also Panthers versus Green Wave, as #2 Dillard takes on #3 Father Lopez. Final is set for 2 pm Saturday.

Here's an article from over a year ago about Nease's Friday opponent:

https://www.news-press.com/story/sports ... 024166001/

Clark is averaging 18 ppg and 14 rpg for the Green Wave this season.

** Go Nease! Go Peyton!

A write-up on WCA's state final appearance has finally appeared:

http://www.oconeeenterprise.com/sports/ ... 85586.html

There's a pic of Sallie Schutz getting arm-barred as she's about to rocket past a CCS defender.

This was WCA's only loss of the season... not bad for a team that replaced 80% of its starting five.

Nease over three-time defending champs Fort Myers today, 52-40. Dillard defeated Father Lopez in the other semi, 53-38.

That sets up #1 Panthers v #2 Panthers, tomorrow at 2 pm, for all the marbles.

Statewide, Nease is #5 and Dillard is #8. Nationally, Nease is #88 and Dillard is #197. All of this is according to MaxPreps.

Go Peyton! Go Nease!

Edit: Here's a brief vid of Peyton out-jumping and winning the tap against Fort Myers' taller center:

Clemson would be all over the opponent's center if they knew about her.

Funny you should mention Clemson.

By coincidence, they have an incoming 2019 big who is one of the players that 5-9 Suzi-Rose Deegan won the opening tap against at U20s last month.
