We can't drop far next season. But we can drop. We could rise. But not much. We need multiple home runs in the portal.
Brizzi was a home run. We put him in the corner (literally). And he got yanked every time he made a mistake.
You must have forgotten about overtime in the Richmond home game.

Are we going to list all the times all players failed in the waning minutes of games?

I remember where I was when Brizzi committed. I screamed I was so excited. Really sad it did not work out, and I do not think the blame is all on him.

Listen, if Jay Wright wanted him, he was good. Very good.

Our offense didn't really fit him. He has to get out and run. Of course, I'm beginning to think that the motion offense doesn't fit our talent at all these days. It may be passe, like the Veer or Winged-T.

I thought the best-looking moments our offense had all season came with him running the point. Most of his minutes saw him playing off the ball. He wasn’t perfect. His shooting was not at all like his highlights suggest. And he made some dumb mistakes. But those things were true for players with much longer leashes.

Haha, nothings as bad as the Winged-T.

Remember, Brizzi was really a freshman with regards to his career playing time. Few minutes at Villanova. Hope he decides to stay.

I was looking forward to seeing him as point guard next season.

But I know it’s about more than what we fans see on the court. Maybe there were personality conflicts. But coaches have to manage different personalities. And if Davidson MBB is going to limit itself to players with the temperament and comportment of Peyton Aldridge and Michael Jones and Bobby Durkin, then it’s going to have a very limited source of supply.

I was responding to this: “And he got yanked every time he made a mistake.” The Richmond overtime proved this wrong.

Ok. Not every time. But his yank-to-mistake ratio was very high and much higher than others.

Brizzi was also the program’s first (and to date only) player who played AAU for Team Curry.

I wish Brizzi well, but he was not a youngster. That said, we’ve had plenty of true freshman play well in our offense. Aldridge, Cohen, and Brooks certainly did, and some guy named Curry too. Maybe it was just a bad fit all around.
