I’m assuming the rationale is. “Davidson is so wonderful, everyone should stay here for as long as possible?” I guess that’s one way to look at it, but if you could get a degree from here in 3 years and get a masters from another elite institution…all on scholarship…. My point isn’t to take pot-shots at Davidson but for the caliber of students we have on our team, I’m just saying I get the allure of going to get that grad degree that they can’t get here is just one more hurdle that puts us at a disadvantage. I certainly enjoyed my Davidson experience, but it would have been hard to not jump at the opportunity to not pay MIT a small fortune for my masters if someone wanted me to leave after my junior year and offered to pay for it.

So no Rikus, that is a shame, in limited time thought he showed some promise here. To the portal we go!

The portal sucks. College BB will never be the same. 👎🏻

We’ll see. We’ve had other players enter the portal and then decide to stay.

Probably not the last shoe to drop.

Very unfortunate news about Rikus, I also thought he could be a key piece for us moving forward. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t get much worse than this, but it almost surely will. I’d expect to see Skog, Grant, and Reed in the portal by weeks end, hopefully I'm wrong on at least one. 50/50 on Sean Logan but optimistic he stays put. With Brizzi and Moss having transferred already I expect they remain as well. Alas, the portal giveth and also taketh away, there's already a multitude of new players available for us to recruit in this unprecedented landscape in college basketball.

I think Skogman and Grant are just going to graduate, and Reed will stick around depending on how much NIL we offer him vs. what other schools (have likely already) offered him.

I will be surprised if David doesn't enter the portal. Why wouldn't he. Grant is probably 50/50. Go play somewhere and get his Masters paid for or start your career at a good and well paying job that he has been offered.

For anyone else, I don't really expect those that have been getting good minutes will go any where. Those that haven't earned the minutes yet may feel the grass is greener elsewhere. Often it is not, but the next couple of weeks will tell the story.

I consider Skog and Grant different. These are guys who graduated and used 4 years of eligibility, without the covid season they never would have had the chance to be at Davidson next year. But its underclassmen leaving like Rikus that really hurt a program like our ours that relies so much on long term development. If Reed leaves, thats a whole 'nother story and would be a massive blow....

I don't think that we should speculate about underclassmen entering the portal until they actually enter the portal.

I agree that David and Grant will be graduates in a couple of months and will be pursuing whatever options for school or employment that they thinks best suits them, just like every other graduating Davidson student does.

But we know what we don't know. What gets you are the unknown unknowns.

Long before that was an excuse for a war, I learned about the Johari Window in school.

But also I think it was Twain who warned us about the things we know that ain't true.

This group can challenge for A-10 provided the players work on their individual short comings. Primarily shooting.

We can't drop far next season. But we can drop. We could rise. But not much. We need multiple home runs in the portal.

Brizzi was a home run. We put him in the corner (literally). And he got yanked every time he made a mistake.
