Illinois loses focus at times. But lots of options, athleticism, especially if they run. Illinois -9.5.

How is that money divided up, Coach?

I have read 75% to the school, 25% to the A-10, but the source was from 10+ years ago and I don't know how reputable the source is.

Lots of math here:

Each conference is different. Back in our days with the SoCon, I believe they divided the NCAA unit evenly. So if one unit was worth $2M and there were 12 teams in the SoCon, each school would get 1/13th of the $2M, with 1/13 going to the conference (Paid out over a rolling 6 years). If I'm not mistaken, largely due to Davidson, they changed that and if the conference had 12 teams, each school would get 1/14 of a unit, the conference would get 1/14 and the team that made tournament got 2/14.

In 2008, I believe we earned 4 units for the conference which was likely in the neighborhood of $6-8M.

I did a little looking-up, myself. Conferences get one unit for each tournament game played by its teams. This year, a unit is worth about $2M. So, with two A10 teams in, the conference was guaranteed $4M. With the Dukes and Flyers both winning, that's at least $4M more, with each additional victory worth another $2M.

As Coach said, conferences get to decide how to split the money. I haven't found any info on the A10 process, but I'll keep looking, unless someone else beats me to it.

I think when we joined the A10 it was posted here how the division was different from the SoCon. I don’t recall the split, but in the A10 the playing team got a bigger cut than in the SoCon.

I found this on the GMason board:

"Actually the A10 has an approximately 75/25% formula with regards to NCAA Basketball Units with the team earning the unit getting 75% of the revenue and the remainder of the league receiving 25%."

So, if this is correct, we stand to get 1/13 of $2M, or just over $150K, spread over six years (@$25K/yr) plus more if the conference gets more wins. While any extra money is good, this is much less than I thought it would be.
