UNCA is one win away from the Big Dance.

Maybe Raptorcat will go to the Championship and wear the Tam to bring good luck to the Bulldogs.
Once again, the Tam has been retired; it rests on a shelf at the top of my closet.

Longwood, 6-10 in the Big South, runs Asheville out of the gym and is going dancing.

Mocs/Bucs is, not surprisingly, as good as it gets. Mocs were up 20. Tied it at the buzzer.

Man, I miss the atmosphere in Asheville for the SoCon Tournament. As good as it gets, and that 2012 2OT championship game win over Western is still the loudest basketball game I have ever been to.

I really enjoyed the three tournaments I attended in Asheville. A great feature of it was that you could attend both men’s and women’s tournament games. And of course I enjoyed Asheville while I was there.

I have also enjoyed Pittsburgh, Brooklyn, and Washington. I’ve enjoyed the tournaments themselves in varying degrees depending upon how well we did. I went to way too many games in Pittsburgh, a place in the past where I had only changed planes. We could watch the St. Patrick’s parade from the comfort of the hotel coffee shop. We lost the Saturday game, so I was free to attend the Warhol museum and a Pittsburgh Symphony concert on Sunday. I decided I wanted to go back some time when it would not be so cold and I wasn’t spending time at basketball games, but I havn’t done that. A great thing about the location was its proximity to Ohio, so we had former players and players’ families in great numbers.

This season has been frustrating, but generally I have enjoyed A10 games more than SoCon games. OK, it was sort of fun to pull for Jake to outscore the whole other team at least for one half. It was nice to do bus trips to games and to eat brownies on the way home.
