Ogden brothers Bud and Ralph have been wanting this since the late 60's.citycat wrote:Trey Wertz to Santa Clara could be positive for Davidson. We have been asking Santa Clara for a home and home series since Steph exploded. They have not seen any benefit for them. Maybe we can go to Santa Clara Trey's Junior year and they can come to Davidson his Senior year.
Good luck Trey!

I know a lot of what we do on the recruiting circuit is under the radar (especially with euro prospects) but with 6 seniors graduating I think it's fair to be a bit worried by verbal commits only showing one outstanding offer for 2018 in addition to our two verbal commits (who I am bullish on). I don't blame our staff at all for losing recruiting battles, as that is out of our control and stuff happens, but casting a wider net over the summer and past year with so many spots to fill could have been wise in retrospect (and this is also knowing full well we have strict academic restrictions and we are very particular with who we offer). In 2017 we won our major priority target recruiting battles, and for that I am really, really thankful, but it is hard to do that on a yearly basis when a 17 year old kid can see a power 5 football crowd and become completely enamored.
I am really excited to see who we are able to get on campus during red/black, as this is a weekend that can be a really positive experience for the type of young men who will thrive at Davidson. I love our sophomore and junior talent, but with so many players leaving, our 2018 class will be incredibly important to how we grow as a program in the A10.

Ralph and Bud Ogden's dad was awarded the Medal of Honor during WWII. Due to the injuries he suffered in his service to the country, he was hospitalized in a VA hospital in the Santa Clara area.
As he neared his expected discharge, the hospital asked him to join its staff and help other wounded soldiers rehabilitate. He agreed to do that.
Over time, he became a beloved figure in the area. He was approached to run for Congress. He refused, because he thought his job was more important than being in Congress.
His sons, Ralph and Bud, played for a very good Santa Clara team in the late '60s. The Broncos had a very good center named Dennis Awtrey, who had a decent career in the NBA. The Ogden brothers had short careers in the NBA.

Looks like a wing/4 who can do everything but shoot. I'm not sure how keen we are on completely reworking jumpshots, but I like his overall package a lot.Acorn wrote:Nelson Boachie-Yiadom1 August vs. Luxembourg

Anybody who chooses a place called Cowboy Jack's to sign his LOI has got to be a great guy.MNCAT wrote:Looks like I'm making the 20 minute drive over to Woodbury Cowboy Jack's to celebrate Michael Jones' signing. I didn't have an HH scheduled that day anyway....
"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''
