Seconded; also not many have committed anywhere yet so no reason to get even a little nervous.CatsUpNorth wrote:Ah, how nice it was to go into last summer with Kellan already committed, it feels like yesterday. I'm with you and definitely anxious as well with so many spots to fill (especially in the frontcourt) but am trying to stay even-keeled, but will definitely start to get nervous if our primary targets commit elsewhere.Acorn wrote:I'm ready for some news on the 2018 class, so I hope we get some soon.
My understanding of the scholarship situation is that twelve players are on scholarship. Six of them will be graduating in 2018, barring something unexpected. Three of them (Peyton, Nathan, and Will) are key players in the post. That will leave only Dusan as a scholarship post player (unless my understanding that Bates Jones doesn't have a scholarship is inaccurate or that changes).
Given that each team can have thirteen scholarships, that means that Davidson could have up to seven scholarships available for 2018. That's a lot. One post player on scholarship is not a lot.
Thank you stevelee for putting it in level-headed terms. I've stopped posting every time we're reportedly interested in a guy on the board because of the clamoring for prospects by some we haven't shown interest in or have only been tied to once (Lorca, Ricky Lindo, etc.) just because I find it a frustrating and unproductive exercise. Our staff has a clear plan for the 2018 class, and while I'm anxious about the plan working until dominoes start to fall, the repeated posts demanding we recruit kids is diminishing the quality of the board.

Big news today with the signing of David Czerapowicz. He looked really good the one day I saw him play. He'll make us better.

One note on Northwestern is that they've offered a bevy pf bigs (some recently). Not saying this means anything, but it mightCatsUpNorth wrote:No public information to report but no indication we've stopped recruiting him, Northwestern and Utah biggest competition for him at the moment.BDL wrote:Also to now completely contradict myself, has anyone heard anything about Riley Battin? I think it is important to keep these dates in mind while lamenting that you want "something" to happen. If you make too much happen ahead of the dates, you run a risk of someone else swooping in. So I am sure the coaches are working hard, like duck's feet, even though we don't see anything happening.

I splurged and got a subscription, clearly I have a problem, but here's an excerpt:

Great to hear that hes still likes us and hopefully is very interested in us, especially with so many good schools showing interest. Would love to have him think Davidson's the best fit, but Im gonna try and stay cautiously optimistic and not overreact haha.CatsUpNorth wrote:Riley Battin article/update: https://www.prephoops.com/2017/06/recru ... ttin-2018/

“A bunch of schools have been calling after the spring live period,” he said. “Right now it’s mainly Pac 12, Big 10, SEC and Davidson. I really like Davidson.”
“I’m looking for a school where I fit in the offense and somewhere that has good player development,” Battin said. “My goal is to play professionally.”
