wftc is alluding to the 19th century novel in which an abandoned toddler replaces an anti-social miser's pot of gold coins. The miser believes a divine power has given him the child in exchange for the gold, so he raises the child lovingly and opens up to the world. The stolen gold is found at the end of the story and provides a wonderful nest egg for his daughter.

Correct. And the child's knees were strong, no ACL tears.citycat wrote:wftc is alluding to the 19th century novel in which an impoverished infant replaces an anti-social miser's pot of gold coins. Had Hansel and Gretel had those breadcrumbs they could have had a more enjoyable walk in the forest.

I had no clue about Lieber-Stoller. They wrote some of the greatest songs of our ute. Thanks for referencing them. Nice trip down memory lane.WildCock wrote:Even given the average age of posters on this board, steve, that reference might be a bit obscure (except to diehard Lieber-Stoller fans like me).stevelee wrote:The song quotation was too tempting to pass up, and he will be in the mix of combo players.BDL wrote:Is jones a pg though? He seems like the same (very good) type as Frampton. I think if we are looking for a shifty/quick true point guard on the roster or in our recruiting classes Carter is the only viable answer.stevelee wrote:And then . . . along came Jones.

Titanic size!
Bob in the huddle during timeout: "Don't listen to BDL!"
Matt: "Coach, that's BDF."

As Michael Jones continues to dominate Minnesota, I've been thinking about how Nelson Boachie-Yiadom will fit perfectly in our zone (if we continue to use it going forward, which I think we will). He isn't a traditional center, but he's long and quick, and would be perfect playing one of the bottom corners of the zone since he can cover ground to contest the corner and the wing, while also collapsing inside to help. Our current zone has good length (and Michael Jones will help that as well) but it lacks elite recovery quickness, evidenced by the open three that lost us the game last night. With NBY on the bottom of the zone, things will become even more uncomfortable on the perimeter for defenses. I'm still worried about his jumper and would like us to add a traditional big who can silasnce offenses and gobble up rebounds, but I don't think his addition should be overlooked even though he likely wont be the type to put up massive numbers.
