Our #1 need for next year is a 6'8"/9" inside guy. Someone who can replace Peyton, not 100%, but to a degree.
15 years ago, we were dying for a 6'-6'2" PG who could break a press, penetrate, and shoot a 3 passably. We found one in Jason Richards, but kept him in mothballs for 2 years.
We need another Jason Richards now. That's need #1A.

Interesting take. Obviously agree about big man. My 1A would probably be another big man.citycat wrote:Our #1 need for next year is a 6'8"/9" inside guy. Someone who can replace Peyton, not 100%, but to a degree.

Kenny Grant was top 5 in the nation in assists and good enough to keep sophomore JRich on the bench. JRich led the nation in assists. Steph was Steph. Nick and JP were good, but our best players then were Cohen and Brooks. Jack was conference POY good, even though he was "only" 1st team A10. That's a helluva run for point guards.
Sophomore JAG and freshman KG will be excellent. They are already good. Of course there is room for improvement, but the backcourt is less of a concern now than our injury riddled interior.

Agree it would be helpful. Just think we need big bodies.citycat wrote:If we had a guard like Jason Richards, we would have won by 15 tonight.
The refs were willing to call fouls on the Billikens, we just needed a strong dribbler to penetrate their defense.
We need that type of player next year, too.
I agree with the wizard; D Cz has the goods.wildforthecats wrote:David Czerapowicz?citycat wrote:If we had a guard like Jason Richards, we would have won by 15 tonight.

I don't see a pressing need for another guard because I think Carter Collins with some seasoning can be a really good pg. It would be nice but we only have 2 bigs on the entire roster next year and 1 has major trouble just staying healthy. At least 2 of our last 3 schollies need to be spent on bigs.

Hopefully we can bring in a freshman big and either 2 big men transfers or 1 big man transfer and 1 guard transfer.BDL wrote:I don't see a pressing need for another fuard because I think Carter Collins with some seasoning can be a really good guard. Why are you so stuck on transfers. We need help next year, not two years from now.BDL wrote:Hopefully we can bring in a freshman big and either 2 big men transfers or 1 big man transfer and 1 guard transfer.BDL wrote:I don't see a pressing need for another fuard because I think Carter Collins with some seasoning can be a really good guard.
